The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the CBS soap really needs to pull the trigger on a new, age-appropriate love interest for Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Jack could find a spark with an old flame, but we all know how that would end. It’d just mean more heartache and another disastrous reunion that leaves Jack all alone.
Instead, The Young and the Restless should focus on a new leading lady just for Jack – someone who could serve as a clean slate from all the romantic failures of the past.
On a recent Y&R episode, Summer Newman (Hunter King) urged Jack to put his heart back out there. She assured Jack that there were hundreds of eligible women in Genoa City who would kill for a date with Jack Abbott.
Summer knows Jack’s a soft, romantic sweetheart who loves being in love. That’s what makes Jack happy, so he’s seemed rather off without someone to dote on. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!
Many Y&R fans are hoping the show’s hints about Jack finding love again are actually going somewhere. Maybe this “Teardrop of Love” emerald could segue into a new love story for Jack.
This Young and the Restless storyline will indeed turn into some sort of romantic adventure this fall. It’d be great if this mystery led Jack to his destiny – a new woman who’s his ideal match.
Of course, that’d mean Y&R would have to cast someone for the part. Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady on Days of Our Lives) would be an excellent choice. Alfonso declined to return to Days following the show’s return to production.
There were issues behind the scenes since Alfonso was asked to come back briefly, film an exit and then spend a few months off screen.
Instead, Alfonso just decided she was done completely and never came back. It seems like Alfonso would approve of a big love story where she’s given airtime – and Y&R could offer that.
Alfonso’s last DOOL airdate is rapidly approaching, so this is the prime opportunity for The Young and the Restless to hire her.
Alfonso’s in the right age range for Jack and could bring a lot to the table. Her look has a certain sophisticated, old Hollywood appeal. Alfonso is also a fantastic actress who’s been in the soap business for years, so she could jump right in.
It’d be no problem for Alfonso to debut as a new character and kick off a Jack love story immediately.
