The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) is going to need a new love interest eventually. Y&R fans know Nick and Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) reunions never seem to last. Phyllis and Nick’s latest attempt to make this work will only lead to heartbreak – just like all the attempts that came before it.
Phyllis is an independent gal who can stay single for a while if need be. Nick, on the other hand, can’t handle it if he isn’t in a committed relationship. It probably won’t be long until Nick becomes interested in someone new – another lovely lady that he becomes protective of.
Meanwhile, we’ve got Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) in Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) orbit. Lily and Billy have some nice chemistry, so that’s step one toward pairing these two up.
There’s also been some clashing for Billy and Lily to work through. That’s another strategy soaps tend to use when they’re trying to make two characters a couple.
After everything that went down with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), The Young and the Restless established some serious hostility between Nick and Billy. That hostility revved up after Billy started running Chancellor Media with Lily.
The deal Nick made with Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) put Billy in the old Dark Horse offices, so Nick obviously wasn’t happy about that.
Could The Young and the Restless take Nick and Billy’s rivalry to the next level? It’d be easy to do if Y&R just adds a love triangle! Maybe Nick could emerge as a surprise romantic rival for Billy.
Nick’s the kind of guy who might step up to protect Lily and warn her not to make a huge mistake. The closer Lily gets to Billy, the more concerned Nick might become.
Billy brought a lot of pain to Victoria’s life, so Nick wouldn’t want to see Lily face similar struggles. Of course, Billy’s someone who loves a good challenge. If Nick falls for Lily in the midst of all this, could that lead Billy to fight even harder for his own future with Lily?
