The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Friday, December 18, tease that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will worry in his jail cell, while in her room at the Grand Phoenix, Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) will fret and try to leave the room. However, a police officer will be standing guard outside Alyssa’s room.
In a room at the GCPD, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will take a call from Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), asking Michael to make sure that “Billy Boy” pays for what he did.
Afterwards, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will come in and tell Michael that Alyssa is a skilled markswoman and that she had shooting gloves in her room. Rey will say that forensics is examining the gloves, and Michael will be horrified to find out that their star witness may have lied.
At the Chancellor mansion, Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will get a visit from Rey, who will ask Chance some questions about his interactions with Alyssa in the past.
Chance will fill Rey in on everything, while Abby eavesdrops and learns that Alyssa was furious enough with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) to possibly try to kill him.
At Chancellor Communications, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will wonder what’s going on with the investigation into Alyssa, and this will eventually morph into a discussion of Lily’s relationship with Billy.
Lily will admit to there being more than just sparks, just as Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) walks in. Victoria will be visibly upset by it. Just then, Amanda will get a call from Michael and she’ll rush off to meet him.
Back at the Grand Phoenix, Rey will enter Alyssa’s room and he’ll place her under arrest for the shooting. Alyssa will look totally guilty and caught. Meanwhile, Billy will be led from the jail cell to the GCPD conference room, where he’ll find Michael and Amanda.
Michael will tell Billy that the charges against him are being dropped pending a formal court hearing and that he’s sorry on behalf of the city.
Later, Rey will visit with Michael privately in the conference room, and he’ll report that Alyssa seemed remorseful after her arrest – but only about setting up Billy. Michael will praise Rey for a job well done, but Rey will say that he couldn’t have done it without Lily.
Back at the Chancellor mansion, Chance will get a text saying that Billy has been released and that the real shooter was Alyssa. Abby will feign surprise, and Chance will call her out on eavesdropping earlier, but he’ll be good natured about it.
Chance will have a video call with Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) and tell her the good news about Billy’s exoneration.
After the call, Abby will get emotional, realizing how scared she was that Billy might have been the one who shot Chance. Chance will reassure Abby that they’re all ok and that they’ll get through anything that life throws at them.
At Society, Billy and Amanda will arrive and meet with Victoria and Lily. Billy, Amanda, and Lily will share with Victoria that Alyssa was the shooter, and Billy will credit Lily with getting him out of this mess. Victoria won’t be happy as she watches just how close Billy and Lily are getting.
At Crimson Lights, Michael will meet with Victor to tell him personally that they arrested the person who had attempted to shoot Adam, and that it was Alyssa who was apparently avenging her father’s death.
Victor will be floored, and Michael will note that Victor must not have wanted Billy to go down for a crime he didn’t commit. “If you say so,” Victor will say.
Elsewhere in Crimson Lights, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will find Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), who will inquire about Nate’s second surgery.
Nate will say that the damage to his nerve was so severe that a full recovery is unlikely, meaning that he won’t be able to perform surgery again. Nate will feel down, and he’ll want to be alone, but Elena will have a different idea.
Elena will take Nate to her apartment, where she’ll try to cheer him up. Nate will resist a little, saying that he doesn’t feel like talking and that he just needs to absorb what happened.
Elena will say that she’ll listen, and eventually Nate will open up and share his feelings about how being a surgeon was his whole life. Elena will say that maybe Nate can get a Christmas miracle.
Nate will say that maybe his miracle will be a new path toward something even better. Elena will say that she’d love to help him find that. Nate will get an idea, and he’ll send for some ornaments for Elena and Lola Rosales’ (Sasha Calle) bare Christmas tree. Nate will decorate the tree and smile for the first time all day.
