The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Thursday, December 31, tease that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) wedding will continue, as Sharon and Rey say personal vows.
During the vows, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will watch undetected from the doorway, until Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) comes along and whispers, “What are you doing here?”
Adam will quietly insist that he’s not there to disrupt the ceremony, and that he’s seen what he needed to see. “Sharon deserves to be happy,” Adam will say. Phyllis will needle Adam, asking him if Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) knows that he’s here.
Adam will slink off, as Sharon and Rey exchange rings happily. Soon, Arturo Rosales (Jason Canela) will pronounce Rey and Sharon to be Mr. and Mrs. Rosales.
Afterwards, there will be several toasts, as Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) express their love and welcoming words to Rey, and as Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) says some nice words about the couple as well.
Sharon and Rey will address the group, too, thanking their family for their support.
Later, Celeste Roslaes (Eva LaRue) will appear via video chat to welcome Sharon to the family. Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) will remark that she just gained two sisters, and that anyone who messes with Faith has to go through her first.
Soon, Jordan (Madison Thompson) will arrive, and Faith will get Nick to agree to let her stay overnight at Jordan’s house.
Soon, it will be time to count down to midnight, and everyone will ring in the New Year. Various small conversations will go on around the room, with Rey and Sharon canoodling on a couch and Nick telling Mariah at the bar that she has Sharon’s big heart.
Off by themselves, Faith will show Jordan her big surprise – vodka in a portable drink cup. Jordan will be thrilled.
Over at the Grand Phoenix, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will be upset thinking about her biological mother, and she’ll get dressed and drive over to Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse.
Amanda will apologize for crashing Devon’s plans, but Devon will reveal that he just has takeout and a beer as company for the evening.
Amanda won’t want to talk about anything but fun topics, and Devon will tell stories about some of the crazy parties that his musician clients have had over the years. Devon will show Amanda two of his tattoos, and the two of them will start to get close, as they have a nice evening together.
Meanwhile, at the Chancellor Mansion, Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will get cozy by the fire as they discuss their lives and how happy they are.
Abby and Chance will make love, then they’ll busy themselves talking about their future and taking down Christmas decorations. After midnight, Chance will ask Abby for the first dance of the New Year.
At Adam’s penthouse, Chelsea will wake up on the couch, and Adam still won’t be home yet. Chelsea will sit up, then she’ll feel a terrible pain in her head.
Chelsea will struggle in pain as she calls 911 for an ambulance, then collapses with a hemorrhagic stroke. A short while later, Adam will return and find Chelsea on the floor, followed by the paramedics, who will haul Chelsea off to the hospital.
As the paramedics are taking Chelsea out, Devon will come out into the hallway and see what’s going on. Devon will go back inside and tell Amanda that Chelsea was taken out on a stretcher. Suddenly, fireworks will go off outside indicating that it’s the new year, and Amanda will hurriedly leave.
Later, Devon will fall asleep on the couch and dream about Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) being home and reuniting with him. Then the dream will turn, and Devon will see Amanda. Devon will wake up at this point, and he’ll seem confused.
At the hospital, Elena will tell Adam that Chelsea’s aneurysm burst and that she’s in surgery that will last several hours. Elena will note that Chelsea is lucky to have been able to dial 911, because it saved valuable time in getting her to surgery.
Adam will look horrified. After Adam leaves, Elena will get a text from Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) saying that he hopes this year is better for them both.
Back at the Grand Phoenix, Amanda will dial her birth mother Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey) again. “Who is this? Why did you call me last night? Were you outside my house on Christmas Eve?” Naya will ask. Amanda will get scared and hang up the phone.
In Phyllis’ suite, Nick will come in to find Phyllis still awake and wearing slinky lingerie. Phyllis will wish Nick a Happy New Year and a Happy Birthday, as Nick makes his way to the bed.
Back at Adam’s penthouse, Adam will return and pour himself a drink, as he sits on the couch nearly in tears over what’s happened to Chelsea.
And finally, at Sharon’s house, Rey will carry Sharon over the threshold. “Happy New Year, Mrs. Rosales,” Rey will say.
