The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Tuesday, September 22, tease that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will continue to talk about the future as they spend time together in Chancellor Park. Nick will want to make plans for a family movie night or dinner, but first he’ll rush off to take care of an errand.
From there, Phyllis will head to the Grand Phoenix, where Summer Newman (Hunter King) will be preparing for a spa visit. As Summer and Phyllis talk, Summer’s engagement ring will fall out of her blouse on its chain, and Phyllis will see it and freak out.
Phyllis will think that an engagement is insane for a plethora of reasons, which she’ll bombard Summer with.
Summer will sit down for a drink at the bar, and she and Phyllis will go back and forth, with Phyllis lecturing Summer about what marriage is about, and Summer will accuse Phyllis of projecting her fears about her relationship with Nick onto her. Summer will eventually storm off and head up to the spa, leaving Phyllis frustrated.
At Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) penthouse, he and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) will talk about sending Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) to prep school. Adam will balk, but Chelsea will insist that they need to have the talk with Connor today. Adam will head out to pick up some food first, clearly stalling.
At Society, Nick will walk in to find Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) sitting at a table. Nick will explain that he met Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) there earlier and forgot his credit card.
Soon, Adam will walk in, and Victor will quip that it looks like a Newman family reunion. Adam and Nick will talk briefly at the bar about Connor, and Adam will ask Nick about his thoughts on boarding school. Nick will think that perhaps it would be good for Connor to get away.
After Nick goes, Victor will needle Adam about the Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) situation, then he’ll insist on seeing Connor sometime. Adam will say that it’s best if Victor stays away from Connor, but Victor will grump that Connor is his flesh and blood.
Adam will say that Connor will likely be going to boarding school, given what’s going to happen. Victor will ask what Adam’s up to, but Adam will walk away.
Adam will return to the penthouse with food, and he and Chelsea will prepare to tell Connor about boarding school. Later, after the conversation is over and done, Chelsea will take Connor to his best friend’s house, and when she returns, she’ll relay to Adam that Connor’s best friend is going to boarding school, too.
Back at the Grand Phoenix, Nick will arrive with flowers for Phyllis, and he’ll tell Phyllis that he’s happy and that they should make plans for the rest of their lives. Suddenly, Summer will appear and accuse Phyllis of trying to upstage her engagement. “What? You’re engaged?” Nick will say, upset.
At Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will arrive to see how Devon is doing with the whole Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) situation.
Devon will explain that he’s conflicted because he wants to help Amanda and not hurt Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), all while honoring what Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) would want.
Nate will advise Devon to do what he wants to do in his heart, and Devon will admit that he does want to help Amanda. Nate will think that Elena will understand if Devon is open and honest with her.
Meanwhile, over at Chancellor Communications, Amanda will open up to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) about what she learned from her previous visit with Devon.
Amanda will open the envelope containing Hilary’s birth certificate, and it will say that Hilary was born in Evanston, Illinois, two hours away from where Amanda was left at a fire station.
Amanda will think that something seems awry, and Billy will suggest that Amanda talk to Devon again. Amanda won’t want to do that, but soon Devon will call to invite Amanda to come by the penthouse. Later, Amanda will show up at Devon’s place, and the two will prepare for another talk.
