The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Wednesday, December 23, tease that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will surprise Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) by making Cuban tamales for dinner. Rey will be stoked, but when he tries one, they’ll be awful.
Sharon will dig in next, and she’ll immediately grimace and say that the tamales are horrible. Sharon will be embarrassed, but Rey will say that next time, they’ll try to make them together as a new family tradition.
Over at the Grand Phoenix, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Summer Newman (Hunter King) will discuss Phyllis’ situation with the hotel and how Phyllis feels weird about Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) having bought it for her.
Phyllis will moan about wanting to control her life again, and Summer will share that her special Christmas gift for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) hit a snag.
At the Abbott mansion, Nick will get a little advice from Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) about how to deal with Phyllis’ weirdness over the hotel loan, and then Jack will talk with Kyle about his impressions of Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).
Nick will hear Kyle say that Sally is great, and he’ll bust Kyle’s chops about complimenting a woman other than Summer.
In a moment alone, Kyle will lament to Jack that his plan to put his emerald into Summer’s infinity necklace hit a snag, since Summer lost the necklace. Later, Summer and Phyllis will show up, and the group will decide to go ice skating.
Jack and Phyllis will end up talking and they’ll realize that Summer is planning to put the diamonds from her necklace into Kyle’s tie clip, while Kyle wants to put his emerald from the tie clip into Summer’s necklace.
At Crimson Lights, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will meet Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for coffee, and she’ll say that she’s still swept away by Victor after all these years.
Nikki will inquire about their London trip, and Victor will mess with her a little before saying that they should go and enjoy themselves. Nikki will be overjoyed.
Later, Nick, Kyle, and Summer will arrive at Crimson Lights after ice skating. Phyllis will arrive late, saying that Jack will be a few more minutes. Kyle will get a text and rush off to the patio, where Jack will hand him a package from the jeweler’s saying that what was lost has been found and that his Christmas wish has been granted.
Meanwhile, Phyllis will give Summer a package from the jeweler’s saying the same thing. Both Kyle and Summer will be thrilled.
Later, Phyllis and Nick will sit and enjoy coffee together. Phyllis will tell Nick the cute story about Summer and Kyle’s jewelry, and Nick will ask Phyllis to help him make the holidays special for Christian Newman (Alex Wilson). Phyllis will happily agree.
At Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) penthouse, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will explain that her birth mother was named “Naya” and was the cousin of Hilary Hamilton’s (Mishael Morgan) adoptive mother.
Amanda will show Devon a photo of Naya on her phone, explaining that Naya was well-off and became pregnant in college, and that she gave her twin babies up.
Amanda will seem tortured by why Naya didn’t ever wonder what happened to her. Amanda will say that her private investigator left a message for Naya, but that he hadn’t heard anything back. Amanda’s impulse will be to go see Naya, but she’ll question her impulse.
Devon will reassure Amanda and tell her to trust her impulse. Amanda will think that she’s too overwhelmed to decide right now.
After Amanda goes, Devon will remember Hilary, as he flashes back to reading aloud Hilary’s childhood letter to Santa on GC Buzz several years ago.
Later, Amanda will return to her suite at the Grand Phoenix, where she’ll text her private investigator and learn that Naya lives about an hour away outside of Chicago.
Amanda will call Devon, saying that she’s decided to go see her mother, and she’ll ask Devon to accompany her. Devon will agree, and he’ll offer to pick her up tomorrow and make the drive with her.
Meanwhile, down in the lobby of the hotel, Summer and Kyle will each be brimming with happiness over their respective Christmas gifts for each other, but they won’t exchange gifts just yet.
Finally, back at the Abbott mansion, Jack will take in the Christmas tree alone and will seem melancholy. Sally will text Jack to see if his offer to stop by on Christmas is still on. Jack will reply that they’ll be glad to have her come by.
