The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Wednesday, September 16, tease that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will stop by Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) place wanting to know where things stand between Sharon and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Sharon will say that she’s no longer treating Adam as a patient, but Rey will balk, wondering if that means Sharon will still be helping Adam as a friend.
Rey will also wonder whether Sharon cut things off with Adam because she really wanted to or because of him. Sharon will say that she’s focused on her treatment, and that she has no plans to see Adam.
Rey won’t be entirely convinced, and he’ll say that a part of his still wonders if Sharon was afraid that she was on the verge of crossing a line with Adam.
Soon, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will arrive, and she’ll sense that she’s interrupting something. Rey will leave, and Sharon will confide in Mariah that she’s afraid that she ruined everything.
Mariah will hear the whole story, and she’ll advise her mom to put herself and her treatment first and that in this case, she should leave Adam to fend for himself.
Later, Rey will return when Sharon’s alone. Rey will say that he doesn’t want to fight, and Sharon will apologize for earlier. Rey will tell Sharon that it can’t happen again, and Sharon will promise Rey that Adam will not come between them.
At Adam and Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) penthouse, Adam will return to pick up a few of his things, and Chelsea will tell him that he needs to hear her out. Chelsea will say that she has a plan, and that a temporary solution is to send Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) to boarding school.
Adam will agree, and Chelsea will continue, saying that Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) has joined forces with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
Adam will say he can handle it on his own, but Chelsea will say that she’s Adam’s partner through and through, and that he needs to stop shutting her out. Adam will balk and go through his typical song and dance about just disappointing Chelsea and Connor in the end.
But Chelsea won’t give up, and she’ll present Adam with their birth certificates so they can go get married asap.
Adam will think that’s crazy, but Chelsea will persist, saying that she’ll stand there as long as it takes for him to come around. Chelsea will go on about how now that Adam knows the truth, he can let it empower him, and that she’s his and that’s that.
Finally, Adam will say ok, and that he’ll stay, although Adam won’t think that a quick marriage is the answer.
Instead, Adam will think that their wedding should be a celebration for once they declare victory over their many enemies. Adam will ask Chelsea if she’s ready to bring Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to his knees…and anyone else in the family who tries to protect him.
Chelsea will be ready, and Adam will say that this is war.
At the Grand Phoenix, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will meet up with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) to watch the digitized home movie from their childhood again.
Jack will explain to Traci that there may be something else in the movie that Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) was trying to tell them. Traci will eventually notice Dina’s necklace in the home movie.
Neither Jack nor Traci will remember that particular heirloom piece from Dina’s things, yet it will seem like the sort of piece that would be important. Traci will say that there’s something familiar about the necklace, and that she’ll find out what it is.
Up in Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) suite, she and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will talk about Jack’s search for meaning in Dina’s home movie, and Phyllis will share her theory that Dina wasn’t sharing some touchy feely message.
Nick will think that sounds cynical, but Phyllis will say it’s realistic, and after some back and forth, Phyllis will worry that perhaps they are mismatched since Nick tends to wear his heart on his sleeve and she hides her emotions.
But Nick will think that they balance each other out. Phyllis will admit that she believes in love, but that it never seems to last for them. Together, Phyllis and Nick will decide to not hurt each other again, and they’ll declare their love for each other sweetly.
At Crimson Lights, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will talk with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), who will quickly find out that Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) got the DNA test results and immediately ran over to Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) place.
Elena will worry that it will shake Devon to his core and that Devon might connect with Amanda now.
Nate will talk Elena down, saying that Devon fell in love with what’s inside Elena – the wonderful person she is. After a little pep talk from Nate about Elena and her relationship with Devon, Elena will feel better, and she’ll tell Nate that she hopes Amanda knows what she’s got in him.
At Devon and Elena’s penthouse, Amanda will tell Devon that she felt very strange knowing that she had a sister but lost her before she ever got a chance to know her.
Devon will have a tough time processing the DNA test news, and things will get more difficult for him when Amanda starts peppering him with questions about Hilary Hamilton (Mishael Morgan) and who she was.
Devon will say that there are some clear similarities between Amanda and Hilary, but that he doesn’t think that he can bring Hilary to life for Amanda in the way that she wants him to.
Devon will say that he had a terrible time when Hilary died, and that he can’t reopen that wound. Amanda will continue to press, and finally Devon will open up a little.
Devon will say that Hilary grabbed onto life, and that he was glad that she grabbed onto him. “I loved Hilary more than anything else on earth,” Devon will say…just as Elena walks into the penthouse.
