The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers review for Thursday, October 29, teases that major Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) drama’s going down. At Crimson Lights, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) keeps things terse with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case).
Sharon keeps pushing and pushing until Chelsea makes an admission. “I left Adam, OK? He’s all yours now,” Chelsea snaps.
At the penthouse, Adam types on his laptop before sending a text to both Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). They’re puzzled when Adam pushes for an urgent meeting – just the three of them.
In Chance Chancellor’s (Donny Boaz) suite, he suggests he’s looking for a clue. Chance banters with Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) about hoping to see if she’s glowing, so she sees what he’s getting at. Abby argues that even a great detective like Chance wouldn’t be able to spot a pregnancy that early on.
The mood shifts as Abby admits she’s not feeling very “glow-y.” Abby has to go help with Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) memorial arrangements, but she refuses to let Chance postpone his start date at the GCPD. Chance has to make a stop before work, so Abby wishes him luck since he might need it.
At the Abbott mansion, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) talks to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) about putting on a memorial service that does Dina justice – but it’s just for family.
It’s important to Jack that everything goes smoothly. “It’s just us Abbotts. What could go wrong?” Kyle asks as the doorbell rings. He opens it and certainly isn’t happy to see Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson).
Next, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) joke about how Dina basically planned her own funeral. Dina knew exactly what she wanted, though Jack notes a few decisions still need to be made. The Abbotts talk about how Dina didn’t want anything formal or somber. This has to be like a big party – a celebration of Dina’s life.
Abby pipes up about having buckets of Champagne ready. Kyle thinks he can find an up-tempo version of a song Dina used to know. The Abbotts gush about how nice it’d be for Dina and John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) to be up there dancing again.
Theo looks uncomfortable since he has nothing to contribute and isn’t being included in the conversation, so he says he’s going on a coffee run.
Back with Phyllis, she pushes Nick to just delete Adam’s text. “It’s not worth it to confront him, you know that,” Phyllis insists. Nick thinks it’s better to know what Adam has on his mind so he can be prepared.
Chance makes his way to Adam’s penthouse and offers good news. Now that the inquiry’s completed, Chance is on the force and they’re off the hook. Adam talks about the article being behind him now.
He surprises Chance by revealing that Chelsea left him, which upsets Chance – who feels like Chelsea was the only thing keeping Adam out of trouble.
Adam has found a new purpose and thinks this is all for the best. He doesn’t believe it’s a good idea for him to be around Chelsea or Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) right now.
When Chance tries to protest, Adam shuts him down and insists he has an important meeting to get to. Chance remains concerned and wonders what Adam is up to.
Next, Summer Newman (Hunter King) fills Phyllis in on Kyle’s grand gesture and how he swore that his love as real. Summer doesn’t know if she believes Kyle, but Phyllis argues Summer either knows or she doesn’t.
Back with the Abbotts, Traci fills everyone in on her plan to write a book about the teardrop of love’s journey and donate the proceeds to Alzheimer’s research. Theo rejoins the family and gets updates on the necklace story.
Traci points out that her brilliant brother found a way for all of them to share in Dina’s miracle. There’s some awkwardness as Jack tries to change the subject, but Theo gazes around the room and spots the individual necklaces pieces Jack had made for everyone except him.
Ashley talks about creating a new fragrance to honor Dina – and she’ll donate the proceeds to Alzheimer’s research. Theo wants to do a tribute story for Dina at Chance Comm and raise awareness for Alzheimer’s, but Kyle feels like it’d mean exploiting Dina and the Abbotts.
Traci likes it, but Jack notes that strengthening the Abbott family bond is the kind of tribute that’d mean the most to Dina.
On the coffeehouse patio, Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) wants to reboot Chelsea’s fashion line by leaving Adam’s name out of it entirely. Chloe suggests an alias, but Chelsea is fresh out of inspiration.
Since Chelsea is acting off, Chloe wonders if there’s something Chelsea isn’t telling her. Chelsea denies it and grips her head as she starts to leave. When Chelsea collapses, Chloe freaks and calls for help.
Nick shows up at Newman Enterprises and speculates about the reason for the meeting Adam called. Victoria and Nick want to present a united front against Adam.
Once Adam arrives, he reveals that he’s had an epiphany and isn’t working an angle. Adam has realized his weakness is his last name, so he’s moving forward and will no longer be a member of this family.
“You’re divorcing us? Well, that suits me just fine,” Victoria says with a grin. Nick asks what Adam’s looking for in terms of his divorce settlement, but Adam only asks that they let him move on in peace. Once Adam is gone, Victoria wonders “what the hell” that was.
Nick seems hopeful that maybe Adam’s telling the truth, but he knows how hard that’d be for Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). It’d be like Adam died all over again.
Victoria doesn’t buy that Adam’s going anywhere and feels this is just a smokescreen. She insists they have to keep their guard up, but she isn’t worried and will give as good as she gets.
Adam meets with Victor next and shows off a court order. He announces that he’s legally changing his name to Adam Wilson and is severing all ties to Victor as well as the rest of the Newman family. Victor looks stunned and hurt by the bombshell.
Adam explains that he’s freeing himself from his need for Victor’s approval and his past. “The atrocities I committed belong to Adam Newman, not Adam Wilson,” Adam declares. “The blood on my hands is washed away.”
Victor suggests that Adam has crossed a line in his own mind that’ll be difficult to come back from, but Adam argues that he wouldn’t want to – he’s done.
At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis questions Summer’s strategy. “How many hoops do you want him to jump through?” Phyllis asks. Summer promises she isn’t toying with Kyle, but she wants everything to be perfect this time.
Summer’s instincts are telling her that’s not the case. She fears Kyle isn’t over Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) and can’t go down this road again with him.
Phyllis doesn’t get why it has to be all or nothing here. Why not take a year or even six months to figure things out? What’s with the marriage rush? “Let the game come to you,” Phyllis insists.
Summer thinks it’s good advice and will consider it, though Phyllis feels her daughter is stubborn. Talk turns to the hotel, which Summer wishes Phyllis would just let Nick buy for her.
Meanwhile, the Abbotts settle on Society as where Dina’s celebration will be held. Abby has already spoken to Lola about it. “Lola will do an amazing job,” Kyle insists. “High praise for your ex-wife,” Theo says.
There’s a rush of tension in the room, but Jack blows past it and brings up Dina’s will. There’s been only one change since Graham Bloodworth (Max Shippee).
Theo asks who that is, but Abby groans and insists she doesn’t want to know. After Theo asks what the change was about, Kyle snaps about Theo wanting to know if he’ll get a piece of the pie.
Theo argues that he never asked for anything and is just as much Dina’s grandson as Kyle is – the son of her firstborn actually. “Right, the son she never wanted,” Kyle says. Jack insists on tabling the will discussion until after Dina’s memorial service.
Once Theo’s gone, Abby talks to Ashley about her pregnancy plans. Ashley assumes Abby is already pregnant, so Abby has to admit she isn’t yet. She’s just moving forward on that goal with Chance.
Ashley is excited about the idea, but she insists this child can’t call her Grandmother or Grandma. Abby jokes around about the kid just calling her Ashley.
Since Dina warned Abby not to make the same mistakes she did, Abby wants to honor her own grandmother’s memory by being the mom her child deserves. Back with Jack, he insists that Kyle has everything and Theo has nothing.
Jack argues that Theo is still family, but Kyle feels Theo will use that against them for the rest of his life.
On Thursday’s Y&R episode, Traci tracks Theo down at Crimson Lights and admits he didn’t see the Abbotts at their best. She tries to blame Kyle’s harsh words on his grief, but Theo doesn’t buy that. He feels like an outsider and has accepted that he’ll never be a true part of this family.
Summer finds Kyle at the park and starts to make a speech, but Kyle interrupts. He feels this isn’t working since Summer doesn’t trust him. Kyle thinks maybe Summer had the right idea when she left – that maybe they are better off apart. Summer stands there pouting in shock.
At Society, Chance offers news about Adam during his chat with Abby. Although he tries not to let his mind go there, Chance has a feeling the worst is yet to come.
Back with Victor, he meets with Victoria and Nick in Thursday’s Young and the Restless episode. Nick and Victoria are surprised Adam is taking this as far as legally changing his last name back to Wilson.
Even so, Victoria feels it’s for the best and suggests Victor will finally have to let Adam go. At home, Adam pours a drink and raises a glass to himself. The Young and the Restless spoilers say there’s much more Adam mayhem to come, so stay tuned to Y&R.
