The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers review for Wednesday, October 14, reveals that Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) inner battle is taking a toll. At home, Adam hears Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) in his head talking about pulling back the curtain on the “festering wound” that’s Adam’s life.
Adam also thinks back on Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) goodbye and how Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) wanted him to prove he’s not a monster.
At Chancellor Communications, Billy’s on the phone assuring someone that he or she will be an unnamed source if they bring proof – and he uses the term loosely – that Adam’s involved in a scam.
“Hang up the phone,” Lily orders as she appears behind Billy. She points out that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) warned Lily to push Billy out – and now Billy’s making a “damn good case” for it.
At Society, Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) admits to Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) that their mom already broke the engagement news to her, but she’s thrilled for Rey and Sharon.
Meanwhile, Sharon ropes Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) into wedding planning. Mariah looks excited, but Faith seems uneasy.
At Jabot, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is surprised to see Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) at the office. Kyle tries to stay focused on business matters, but pauses when he brings up something he was working on with Summer Newman (Hunter King). Jack wishes he could stop Kyle from hurting.
Over with Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), they discuss the Neil Winters (Kristoff St John) business scholarship and some other programs he’s behind.
Devon reveals that he’s up for the businessperson of the year award and gives Elena all the credit since she lifted him up out of a dark place.
Elena insists Devon’s accomplishments are his own before they shift gears and talk about Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). Devon has to talk to Amanda about the scholarship later and just wanted to run it by Elena. She promises she’s not going to freak out every time Devon crosses paths with Amanda.
In the park, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) is out for a run, but he keeps replaying his clinic betrayal with Elena in his mind. Suddenly, Nate snaps out of his chance and finds an angry Amanda yelling at him.
“I think it’s time that we have an honest conversation,” Amanda snaps. She eventually lowers her tone, though she’s still upset over the way Nate’s been pushing her away.
Amanda explains that she likes Nate and enjoys spending time with him. She feels like something has obviously changed and wants to know what’s going on. Nate admits it’s not fair to keep this going and can’t do this anymore.
Amanda wonders if Nate is ending things with her. Nate suggests that this whole twin sister thing turned out to be more complicated for him than he thought.
After Nate reflects on how hard it is since he couldn’t save Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Mishael Morgan), he admits to feeling disloyal to Devon. Amanda doesn’t understand that, so Nate says he knows he isn’t making much sense. Amanda ultimately cuts off the conversation, wishes Nate the best and storms off.
Back at Society, Lola assures Rey that she adores Sharon and doesn’t feel like Rey’s being insensitive at all. “It’s as over as over can be,” Lola says about her relationship with Kyle.
Lola fills Rey in on Kyle getting married again, which enrages Rey since the ink on the divorce papers is barely dry. Lola’s just glad she’s free – and Rey feels the same since Kyle never deserved her.
At Jabot again, Kyle recaps the story of Summer bailing on him. He’s upset over his dad’s news that Summer contacted Jack about taking a leave of absence. Kyle’s cold about it and suggests they’ll need a new head of marketing then.
Kyle promises to make sure all Summer’s responsibilities are covered and contends that replacing someone won’t be that hard.
Back at Chance Comm, Lily rants about how Billy’s “being an ass” and warns about the possibility of another lawsuit if Billy moves ahead with another hatchet job. Lily’s worried that Victor might swoop in and be able to take back Newman’s media division.
Billy takes issue with the hatchet job comment, but he’s willing to back off this story. “Sure you will,” Lily says sarcastically.
Billy keeps reassuring Lily and realizes he’s rattled Lily’s cage instead of Adam’s. He likes a good bluff, but Billy appreciates Lily calling him out on not having enough Adam dirt – though he could’ve dug some up.
At the cottage, Sharon mentions that she asked Rey to ask her to marry him. Mariah’s surprised by that part of the story, but Sharon insists she just got the ball rolling on the marriage conversation.
Faith struggles to come up with enthusiasm since Sharon’s test results aren’t back yet, but Sharon thinks it doesn’t matter. She’s getting married to a wonderful man and her daughters are going to help.
Rey heads to Crimson Lights, where he spots Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and updates him on the engagement. Nick’s happy for Rey and Sharon, but he wonders why now.
He worries there’s been more bad news, but Rey offers reassurance. They’re getting married because they love each other and are choosing happiness for however long they have – which will hopefully be a long time.
Rey surprises Nick by asking him to be his best man. “Seriously?” Nick asks. Rey reflects on how Nick has stepped up during this cancer battle. He wants Nick up there with them, though he understands if it’s too awkward. Nick insists it isn’t and agrees to his new best man status as Adam eavesdrops nearby.
At The Grand Phoenix, Mariah bumps into Devon and fills him in on the “Shey” engagement. Talk turns to Amanda and how Mariah talked to her recently. Mariah kept looking for signs of Hilary in her before realizing it was ridiculous. Devon agrees that Amanda is very much her own person.
Mariah and Devon discuss how Lily’s dealing with the twin shocker. Mariah thinks there must be a lot to unpack for Nate to unpack due to his budding romance with Amanda, but Devon’s “maybe” response leaves Mariah curious.
Devon suggests it’s like Nate knows they’re good on paper. “But there’s just nothing there,” Mariah finishes.
Mariah gets it since that’s how her relationship with Devon was, but she hopes things turn out different for Amanda and Nate. Devon just worries Amanda’s setting herself up for disappointment.
At the clinic, Elena fills Nate in on Devon’s award and how this secret is affecting her. She steps out in a hurry, so Nate tries to follow and stops to watch Elena walk off. Amanda gazes at the scene through the window.
At the coffeehouse, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) runs into Kyle and needles him about the fastest honeymoon in history. When Theo sees Kyle’s glum look, he knows it’s not the face of a happy groom. Theo’s money is on Summer bailing since she always was the smart half of the package.
Lola appears and pushes Theo to back off, so he saunters off the patio and into the main dining area. That leaves Lola to talk to Kyle about his runaway bride situation.
Kyle reflects on the karmic payback and asks if Lola’s mad. Lola says yes and points out that there were so many other bars Kyle could’ve ended up in. Lola wonders if Kyle was looking for pity, sympathy or maybe “mercy sex.”
Kyle tries to defend himself on Wednesday’s Young and the Restless episode, but Lola insists the “kitchen is closed.” She doesn’t care how things turned out with Summer and doesn’t want Kyle looking for her every time he’s feeling down. Summer lurks in disguise nearby, but Faith catches her and laughs about how this “doesn’t look at all weird.”
Summer goes to the park with Faith and tries to explain what went down with Kyle. They thought they had it right this time and were going to live happily ever after, but Summer had concerns that Kyle wasn’t ready to commit to her yet.
Summer wanted to take a step back and make sure they could really go the distance. She warns that Kyle can’t know she’s retuned to town yet.
Faith realizes Summer wants her to lie so she can stalk Kyle, though Summer wouldn’t put it exactly like that. Faith promises it’s OK and notes that she wishes sometimes she could hide, too. Summer asks about Sharon, so Faith notes that Sharon’s getting married to Rey.
Faith’s still fearful about whether Sharon’s surgery worked, but theses sisters establish they’re there for each other if they need to talk. A text from Jordan – who’ll be played by Madison Thompson later this month – comes in on Faith’s phone. Faith dodges Summer’s questions about who’s picking her up and takes off.
At the Chance Comm office, Lily points out that Billy got what he wanted. Adam’s angry and alone. His son’s at boarding school and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) may or may not stand by him.
Lily wants Billy to enjoy his prize and maybe have a little compassion over the fact that Adam’s completely wrecked his life.
Billy can’t bring himself to feel sorry for Adam, but he guesses that Lily is the cute little angel on his shoulder now. Lily’s fine with that if it saves them from other potential disasters. “Yeah, I’ll be your cute little angel,” Lily says in Wednesday’s Y&R episode. Billy smiles and looks a bit smitten.
Adam sits on the floor of his penthouse gazing at a newspaper clipping of the Thanksgiving for the homeless tradition continuing. It features a picture of Rey and Sharon looking cozy, so Adam eerily lights it on fire and tosses it in the fireplace.
Back at the hotel, Amanda meets with Devon about the scholarship in the lobby. She congratulates him on the award he won and mentions that she’s already hired a detective to help dig for answers about her past.
Amanda recalls doing research on Devon when she was working on the case surrounding Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) will. She also mentions Nate ending things.
Devon asks Amanda if she’s all right, so she eventually admits she was hurt and it was a bit embarrassing. Whatever’s going on with Nate, Amanda isn’t part of it anymore. She tells Devon that apparently there are different matches out there for both of them.
At the clinic, Elena pauses to compose herself and get a file. Nate tells Elena to congratulate Devon for him, but plenty of words hang unspoken between them.
Back at Adam’s penthouse, he calls someone and wants to put a tail on Rey. Adam warns that Rey’s a cop, which means they have to be careful. Adam wants to know everywhere Rey goes and everyone he sees. “All of it,” Adam declares.
Over with Kyle again, he doesn’t get why Lola went off on him. Lola argues that this is still raw for her and wants Kyle to put himself in her shoes for a change.
After Lola stomps off, Kyle calls a woman named Jen. It’s been a while, but Kyle makes plans to meet up with Jen since he might be headed to New York soon. Kyle notes that Jen would make the trip a lot more interesting.
At home, Sharon gets a call about her test results and starts crying. Rey walks in and assumes the worst, but Sharon insists the margins are clear. “I’m on my way to being cancer-free!” Sharon says.
