The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) is really facing an uphill battle in Genoa City so far. As Y&R viewers know, Sally burst on the scene several weeks ago looking for a fresh start and a new employment opportunity, fresh from her disastrous stint in Los Angeles on the Bold and the Beautiful.
For those of you who didn’t know Sally’s history on B&B, she lost a great job there after she decided to fake a terminal illness to hang onto a man.
Now Sally has popped up in Genoa City, and she’s been thrust into the action over at Jabot and Fenmore’s. Sally’s taken the position as Lauren Baldwin’s (Tracey E. Bregman) assistant, which isn’t particularly fulfilling for Sally, who’s used to designing clothes and running her own fashion house.
And Sally’s also been thrown into the middle of Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) storyline, which has left some fans less than enthused.
As Y&R viewers know, Summer and Kyle spent months being besieged by Theo Vanderway’s (Tyler Johnson) needling and manipulations. Theo was a thorn in Summer and Kyle’s side, and he was especially antagonistic toward Kyle, who couldn’t stand his cousin.
Well, now that Theo’s gone, it seems that Sally has picked up right where Theo left off as being a source of annoying problems for Summer and Kyle.
Sally’s currently after Summer’s executive position running Jabot Collective (JCV). Sally REALLY wanted the JCV gig, and then she tried to go after Summer’s old marketing position at Jabot.
Sally’s really acting desperate here, and she seems willing to do anything to get in good with the Abbotts and land a lucrative position without working her way up.
Viewers know about Sally’s grand plans from her frequent voicemail messages to her sister Coco Spectra (Courtney Grosbeck), and according to Sally’s last message to Coco, she’s just not progressing as she had hoped in Genoa City.
Sally’s increasingly being portrayed as more and more desperate, and she’s really stepping into the shoes of Theo at his most desperate now that he’s gone.
But wouldn’t it be nice to see Sally get a little more recognition for her talents than she’s currently getting in Genoa City? After all, Sally is a talented designer who could be striving to restart Spectra Fashions again.
We could see Sally running around trying to secure capital for a Spectra relaunch and actively looking for bigger and better things and making them happen.
Right now, Sally seems to be portrayed as someone who doesn’t know enough about the ins and outs of the industry to stand on her own and make her own dreams come true.
Couldn’t we see Sally actively seeking out someone like Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and collaborating on a new fashion design house together? That would arguably be a lot more interesting than watching Sally try to oust Summer from her JCV position.
We’ll see what happens here, but it would be nice to see Sally’s original drive and ambition come back in a more mature and positive way, rather than having her try to take what belongs to someone else again.
Sally needs to grow and develop, and it would be nice to see her mature as a person as she starts over in Genoa City.
