The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the CBS soap could face a tricky situation in new Y&R episodes. Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) has been through a difficult battle with breast cancer, but Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) has been there for Sharon through it all. From the moment Rey found out Sharon’s diagnosis, he became the steady leader of “Team Sharon.”
Rey’s been Sharon’s rock and is hoping she’ll make a full recovery. Sharon will indeed bounce back following her breast cancer ordeal, but what happens after that? Will Y&R really just let Rey and Sharon live happily ever after? The Young and the Restless might give “Shey” some bliss for a while, but they’ll eventually have to face more drama.
That brings us to the tricky situation we mentioned. If Sharon dumped Rey after everything he’s done for her, she’d look ungrateful and cruel. It wouldn’t make sense for Sharon to suddenly toss Rey aside. Likewise, Rey’s been all in on this relationship and would look bad if he bailed as soon as Sharon was better. It would cheapen the supportive moments that Y&R fans watched play out.
However, maybe there’s a way to break Sharon and Rey up without anyone looking too terrible. Let’s say Sharon starts to feel Rey pulling away after she recovers. Rey might insist everything’s fine, but Sharon could still sense that there’s some distance between them.
Maybe Sharon would eventually fear Rey stayed with her out of obligation – and she’s been too wrapped up in her cancer crisis to notice. Rey seemed happy in his reunion with Sharon before her diagnosis, but she may worry this was all too much for him. Sharon might feel like Rey fell out of love somewhere along the way but has stood by her because he’s a great guy.
Rey would probably try to convince Sharon that wasn’t true, but Sharon might make up her mind to set Rey free. She could express her gratitude for everything Rey’s done for her, but she could also feel like it’s time for Rey to get back to his own life – one that doesn’t include Sharon.
Whether Sharon’s thoughts on the matter were right or wrong, nobody would look all that bad in that scenario. Sharon would just seem like a woman who’s been through a lot and has new insecurities in her romance. No one could blame Sharon for that after everything she’s dealt with.
As for Rey, he couldn’t help it if Sharon pushed him away. If Sharon insisted on breaking up with him, there wouldn’t be much Rey could do about it. Rey could fight for Sharon, but there’s no guarantee it’d work. In time, maybe Rey would come to realize that he was simply meant to be there for Sharon when she needed him most.
