The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) is doing her best to bury her feelings for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and concentrate on Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso). It’s easy to see why under the circumstances.
Y&R fans know Sharon’s cancer battle has been a tumultuous, terrifying experience. It’s not surprising that Sharon’s so committed to Rey since she’s craving stability right now.
Rey has stood by Sharon through this nightmare and has been exactly what she needed, so that’s part of Sharon’s decision to go all in on “Shey.”
However, Adam recently insisted Rey was just a port in a storm – and maybe that’s true. Perhaps Sharon’s love for Rey is mostly coming from a place of gratitude at this point.
The writing’s on the wall for Sharon and Rey’s relationship to crumble down the road, but that doesn’t mean Sharon’s reunion with Adam will work out any better.
Rey may be Sharon’s port, but isn’t that what Sharon is for Adam, too? Sharon makes Adam feel better during troubling times. She’s safe and comforting – just like Rey’s been for Sharon. Some might argue that Adam’s true love is Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) despite Adam’s recent comments to Rey.
Adam’s spinning out in a storm of his own, so he’s drawn to Sharon as his safety net. What happens if Adam wins Sharon back and then the storm subsides? How long will it be before Adam’s drifting toward Chelsea again – craving their exciting spark and fighting to put their family back together?
Adam’s fickle heart could bring more drama for Sharon eventually. Will Sharon give up Rey only to get dumped by Adam for a “Chadam” reunion? The Young and the Restless seems to be inching Sharon toward another romance that’s destined to crash and burn.
Sharon has something special and intense with Adam, but they can’t seem to turn into something that lasts.
Could Y&R actually be taking the long way around to doing Sharon and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) again? There’s no denying that Nick is the best of both worlds for Sharon.
She feels heat and intensity with Nick, but he’s not as wild as Adam. Likewise, Nick has a comforting, safe quality – at least when things are going well and he stays faithful.
It’s worth mentioning that Nick’s been a huge part of Sharon’s cancer support system. They’ve consistently shared lovely moments – like when Nick recently assured Sharon that he was proud of her. There’s always a nice “Shick” sparkle due to their history and familiar chemistry.
Sharon and Nick will also have a ton of Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) issues to tackle soon thanks to her troublemaking new pal, Jordan (Madison Thompson).
That’ll bring more opportunities for Nick and Sharon to bond. Since Nick’s reunion with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is bound to blow up one way or another, maybe the stars will align for another “Shick” reunion in 2021.
