Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters), who was then part of Y&R’s cast, had the distinct honor of announcing that Lucci had finally won a Daytime Emmy award in 1999. It was her nineteenth nomination, dating back to 1978. All nominations were in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.

“The streak is over, Susan Lucci!”, Moore joyously pronounced twenty-one years ago. Her truly shocked response, combined with the crowd’s thunderous, sustained standing ovation, remains one of the most memorable moments in the annual awards show’s history.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Susan Lucci’s Storied Daytime Career Didn’t Start At AMC

Lucci’s first entertainment credit came a year before she joined the cast of AMC.

The actor had an uncredited role on the daytime soap, Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing in 1969. LIMST was based on the 1955 feature film and ran from 1967-1973. The legendary Irna Phillips, who created this soap and served as its head writer, also created Guiding Light, As the World Turns, and Another World.

Lucci’s first break in the business led to her casting on AMC. Erica became her most famous and enduring role, which lasted through that show’s run which ended in 2011. The actor has also appeared in numerous other television shows, notably including the epic nighttime soap opera, Dallas, and in movies throughout her career.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Nikki and Victor Split Caused By Susan Lucci’s GC Character

Clearly, Lucci’s proposed Y&R character, with whatever her name might be, would project as a major player in Genoa City, Wisconsin. The most compelling of all storylines would be to write Lucci’s alter ego in between Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

Passionate soap fans can assume what the backstory of Lucci’s character would be. Insight can also be offered regarding how she would become Victor’s new love interest.

Erica faced many relationship challenges in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania. While Nikki and Victor have a well-known history of marriages and breakups, the circumstances connected to this particular split would be fully unique due to the presence of Lucci’s proposed character.
