The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that there are a couple of characters on canvas who could use a friend right about now. Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) has a real connection with Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle), but she’s pretty busy between her job at Society and the new restaurant. Although Theo finds it easy to open up to Lola, he needs a pal to turn to when Lola isn’t around.
Besides, what if Theo wants advice on any issues that arise with Lola? Theo could use a best bud to confide in when he’s stumped or messes up. Meanwhile, we’ve got Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), who doesn’t have very many friends either. Adam considers Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) his pal, but Jack’s also someone who disapproves when Adam crosses the line.
Maybe Adam could use a screwup like him to talk to. It’s a no-brainer to let Theo and Adam form a friendship over their mistakes. Last fall, Adam approached Theo at Crimson Lights and suggested he made it his business to know about all the new players in town.
Adam knew about Theo being Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) grandson, so he advised Theo to tread lightly with the Abbotts.
Adam added that Theo might be tempted to take advantage of the situation, but he didn’t think that was a good idea. Of course, so much as happened since then – including Theo cheating at work and getting himself fired.
Likewise, Adam blackmailed Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), which backfired since Adam lost the CEO spot and was hit with the knowledge that he killed AJ Montalvo.
Although Adam hasn’t accepted his past actions, The Young and the Restless spoilers say he will at some point. Adam will realize he really blew things with Victor, who protected him all these years. Theo’s in a similar boat because he feels like he’s lost his shot at connecting with the Abbotts.
Adam didn’t find out he was a Newman until he was about Theo’s age, so that’s something else they have in common. Theo was dropped into the Abbott family and has been struggling to fit in ever since. As the black sheep of the Newman family, Y&R fans know Adam can relate to that. He could probably also see why Theo would be driven to cheat.
Theo felt like the deck was already stacked against him with Jack in that pitch competition. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is Jack’s son – the golden boy who was named co-CEO of Jabot. Adam also felt like he had to play dirty to be treated on an equal level at Newman Enterprises.
It seems like a no-brainer to develop this Adam and Theo friendship. They’re a lot alike, so they could either scheme together or perhaps just lend a sympathetic ear. Theo and Adam might even help each other on the road to redemption if given the chance!
