The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Tracey E. Bregman’s Multimillion-Dollar Lawsuit – Says Insurer Underpaid Claim After Wildfires

The Young and the Restless spoilers has some news to pass on about a popular Y&R star. Tracey E. Bregman, who portrays Lauren Baldwin on the CBS soap, is involved in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against her insurance company.

As you may remember, Tracey’s Malibu, California, home was completely destroyed by the wildfires in November of 2018, and Tracey has been living in temporary housing ever since. Tracey is suing her insurance company, Lloyd’s of London, for allegedly underpaying her insurance policy benefits.

It is said that Tracey was able to save just a few items from the fire – including some photos, some personal items, and her Daytime Emmy – because they had all been gathered and boxed up for a photo shoot that had taken place at her home shortly before the fire.

Tracey, who is represented by Derek Chaiken of the Merlin Law Group, claims that despite having enough insurance coverage to rebuild her home, the insurance company is refusing to pay her what she’s entitled to. Tracey has therefore been unable to rebuild her home.

Tracey is claiming that Lloyd’s of London hired an unqualified and biased consultant to estimate how much it would cost to rebuild her property, and that it relied upon that biased estimate in determining how much to pay Tracey. The result, according to Tracey, is that she has been woefully underpaid for her losses.

Tracey also says in the suit that she submitted bids from her own contractors who estimated how much it would cost to rebuild her home – and the amount was millions more than Lloyd’s of London paid in her claim. Tracy claims that the insurance company did not consider the increases in construction costs following the wildfires.

Tracey is seeking contractual, general, and punitive damages against Lloyd’s of London, and according to Tracey’s lawyers, this is “another example of insurers not fulfilling their obligations to policyholders.”

Currently, there’s no word on exactly when the trial would be projected to take place, but lawsuits of this magnitude generally involve a considerable amount of legal wrangling before the case ever gets to trial.

We’ll be sure to keep you informed about developments in the case going forward. Stay tuned to the CBS soap and be sure to keep CDL bookmarked for the latest Young and the Restless spoilers, news, and updates.
