The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Friday, September 11, teases that some hot drama’s ahead on the CBS soap. Outside Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) motel room, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) explains that she found out Adam’s location through Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz). Chance thinks Chelsea can help Adam, so she begs him to open the door.
Inside Adam’s room, Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) alone looking panicked. She steps behind the door and battles her nerves as Chelsea looks through the blinds.
Chelsea keeps trying to talk to Adam, who eventually returns and catches her off guard. Adam gets updates on Chelsea finding out where he’s staying through Chance, who thinks they should talk.
Chelsea feels like it’s getting chilly and wants to go inside. Adam argues it’s depressing in his motel room and adds that he’s sick of looking at those walls. He suggests going for coffee instead, but Chelsea thinks they should go home for more privacy.
Adam says he’ll be right behind Chelsea – right after he gets his jacket from his room.
After Adam steps in, he looks around and doesn’t see Sharon. Adam retrieves his jacket and heads out, so Sharon emerges from the bathroom once the coast is clear. Sharon still looks rattled as she runs her hands through her hair.
When Sharon returns home, she’s surprised that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is still there. Rey didn’t feel comfortable leaving – though he didn’t expect Sharon to be out this late.
Rey’s standoffish as he talks about filling Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) in on her pathology report. Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) wants Sharon to call her, too.
Rey decides he should go, but Sharon points out that it’s late and encourages him to stay. Rey nixes the idea and starts to leave anyway, but Sharon stops him. She admits she went to see Adam in the afternoon and tonight as well. Sharon wants to explain, but Rey’s not interested in her excuses about Adam’s mental state.
Rey rants about his own mental state and how he questioned himself while Sharon was gone. Rey had his own deep worry for Sharon, so she’s sorry. Sharon felt she had to keep secrets for privacy reasons, but Rey notes she wouldn’t have had to do that if she’d listened to the people who loved her.
Rey feels Sharon should’ve turned Adam down to begin with, but he won’t argue with her now. “Look at you! You’re worn out! And I’m tired,” an exasperated Rey says. He exits leaving Sharon pensive. Sharon checks in with Faith over the phone and then looks tempted to call or text someone else.
At the penthouse, Adam’s feeling overwhelmed on Friday’s Y&R episode. Chelsea tells Adam that he’s home now and can relax. She adds that she knows Sharon’s been coming to see Adam.
Chelsea acknowledges that she doesn’t have the training Sharon does, so she supports these sessions if they’ll help Adam heal. Chelsea wants to know if Adam’s time with Sharon is indeed helping.
Adam delivers updates on Sharon’s bad cancer news and says he advised her to focus on her own needs. Chelsea doesn’t understand why Adam’s still putting up walls with her.
Adam admits he’s livid and reflects on how Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) could never see his son as anything but sick and deranged.
Chelsea doesn’t agree, but Adam continues to rant about how he became the kind of man his mother wouldn’t even recognize. Adam has tortured himself trying to figure out why he was like this – all while Victor had the key to it all.
Victor wrote his son off according to Adam, but Chelsea feels she knows Adam at his core. Adam insists he doesn’t deal with anger like everyone else; he lets it grow until it crushes him.
The more time goes on, the more intense Adam’s rage gets. Adam’s always going to end up right back in this same horrible place. He thinks it’s better to accept the inevitable and surrender to it.
Adam can’t be the man who proposed to Chelsea or give her the future they envisioned raising Connor Newman (Judah Mackey). He’s so sorry and has never regretted anything more in his life, but he can’t ask Chelsea to walk this path with him.
It wouldn’t be fair to Chelsea or Connor. “We can’t be together. Not now, not ever,” Adam insists. Chelsea looks distraught as tears fill her eyes.
At Chancellor Communications, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) calls Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) in Friday’s Young and the Restless episode.
Alyssa’s at Crimson Lights when she answers and assumes Billy got her name through Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), which Billy confirms. He’d like to fly Alyssa in for a meeting in GC, but Alyssa says there’s no need since she’s already in town.
Billy meets up with Alyssa at the coffeehouse, where she admits she’s run into some roadblocks on her latest story. Billy thinks he can help, so talk turns to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) being someone who does whatever it takes to get what she wants – much like her father, Victor.
Alyssa wants to cut to the chase, so she pushes to find out what Billy and Victoria are after.
Billy notes that Victoria said Alyssa was doing some digging into AJ Montalvo’s death. Billy recaps Victor bribing the coroner to protect his 11-year-old son. Alyssa admits her sympathy for Adam is gone since she knows the kind of man he grew up to be.
“Liar…manipulator…killer,” Alyssa says. She wants to see Adam burn for it, so Billy thinks that changes everything.
Alyssa hasn’t talked to other outlets due to the NDA and the fact that she handed all her evidence over to Adam, who’s surely destroyed it by now. The plan was to talk to the coroner and get him to go on record this time, but he had mysteriously left town by the time Alyssa returned to Kansas.
Billy thinks that sounds like Victor’s handiwork.
George the caretaker is loyal to Victor. The only other people involved in the cover-up were deceased Hope Wilson, Adam and Victor himself. Billy understands the roadblock situation, but he quickly realizes Alyssa’s also investigating crimes that haven’t been reported on yet.
Alyssa mentions a “juicy” story about an incident that happened when Adam was living as Spider in Vegas. Billy contends that Chance Comm has deep pockets and can help Alyssa, but she wonders what’s in it for him.
“The important thing here is that you and I feel the same about Adam,” Billy says. “He’s gotten away with too much for too long.”
Alyssa brings up what happened to Billy’s daughter and wonders if this is about revenge. Billy gets why Alyssa would think that, but he’s learned that vengeance offers him no comfort. Nevertheless, Adam is a menace and incapable of redemption in Billy’s eyes.
Billy’s had enough, so he’s on board with anything that lands Adam in jail or warns the public about what he’s capable of. Billy insists Adam’s wily, so Alyssa’s going to need the resources he has to offer.
Chance finds Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) at The Grand Phoenix, where Abby fills him in on Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) getting financing to buy all her shares.
If all goes well, Abby can “kiss that toxic so-called partnership goodbye.” Chance agrees it’s about time and thinks this calls for a celebration, so Abby wants to pop some bubbly for a toast.
Once the Champagne is opened and poured, Abby talks about how great it’ll be when she can move past Phyllis and all her tricks. However, Abby acknowledges there’s a tiny part of her that’ll miss sparring. Even so, it nearly gave Abby an ulcer and she’s ready to move on.
Chance points out that since Phyllis is with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), she could become part of Abby’s family again one day. “Bite your tongue,” Abby says.
She doesn’t want Nick in the middle of her battles any more than she enjoys being caught in the latest Newman drama. Abby’s so much happier when she’s oblivious, but there’s something Chance wants to talk to her about in his room.
Upstairs, Chance mentions Adam and Alyssa being on a collision course. He’s concerned about others that might be affected, especially Abby. They debate Vegas, but Abby thinks they can stonewall Alyssa and bury the story. It’s not like there’s hard evidence, but Chance argues that Alyssa’s determined to bring Adam down.
Abby realizes Alyssa seems obsessed and wonders if Adam burned her in some way. Chance has told Abby everything he can and feels he owes Adam, but Abby doesn’t.
Chance suggests Abby may want to get out while the getting’s good. He’s “radioactive” and too dangerous to be around right now, so Abby freaks over Chance dumping her because of Adam.
“This is not, repeat NOT some clumsy attempt to try and break up with you,” Chance insists. However, he rethinks that and acknowledges the clumsy part’s accurate.
Abby’s upset that Chance sees her as some “delicate, fragile flower.” She feels like Chance was trying to scare her into leaving him. Chance tells Abby not to go and he won’t either. He doesn’t ever want to lose Abby.
Chance thought he was being noble, but Abby thinks he came across as a jerk. She recommends that Chance show her how he feels next time. Chance grins and asks what Abby had in mind, so she smiles back.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Abby and Chance’s problems may not be over just yet, so stay tuned to Y&R. CDL will have lots of other great Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news to read up on, so be sure to pop in regularly.
