The Young and the Restless spoilers update for Monday, August 10, teases that the CBS soap will return with their first new episode following the recent shutdown. This will serve as a recap episode to help refresh everyone’s memory, but there’ll be plenty of new drama, too! Let’s look at what’s happening in Monday’s exciting episode.
At Chancellor Communications, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) talks to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) about the rededication at Chancellor Park. It’s the anniversary of the statue Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) commissioned in Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) honor.
Billy reflects on how hard Jill and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) previously went at each other over this piece of art.
Next, Lily talks about the in-depth coverage she wants to do for one of their online platforms. She thinks they should talk to some of the key players in town, see what they’ve been up to since the last event and hear what their hopes and dreams are for the future – like a love letter to Katherine and Genoa City.
At the park, Nikki’s the first key player Lily speaks with. Nikki surprises Lily by suggesting Katherine would be amused and horrified by the current state of the city. Genoa City has never been a sleepy little town!
Y&R shows a flashback of Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) getting stabbed at the Newman gala along with one of Victoria looking rough at the hospital. Back in the present, Nikki suggests that Katherine’s watching from her perch laughing and gasping over what’s down below.
Next, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) talks about what a warrior Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) is. We see a flashback of Sharon revealing she has cancer and then one of Sharon making arrangements with Nick – just in case something goes wrong with her surgery.
There’s another flashback of Sharon breaking down in Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) arms and another one of “Team Sharon” promising support. Back in the present, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) talks about how unfair Sharon’s battle is.
It’s an attack from all angles. Sharon fights for the people she loves, but now she has to fight for herself – and they have to fight for her.
A Young and the Restless flashback shows Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) opening up to Mariah, and there’s another one of Sharon trusting Mariah to be her healthcare proxy in the event something happens with her surgery.
Y&R also revisits Sharon’s not-a-pity party, where Rey suggested a taking a picture with the whole gang.
When it’s Victoria’s turn to be interviewed, she talks about being lucky to have powerful female role models. Victoria mentions how any success in the Newman kingdom comes with drama. She flashes back to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) bringing his AJ Montalvo murder accusations and promising to bury the story if he gets what he wants.
Victoria’s furious in another flashback; she doesn’t understand why Victor isn’t fighting Adam on this. Back in the present, Lily asks if Victor has any resentment toward her father.
Victoria dodges the question and makes it all about leading Newman Enterprises into the future. She recalls how Victor gave her back the CEO seat and admitted Victoria had lost his respect.
Nikki chats with Lily again and the mood turns sour. She worries this is becoming a Newman expose and walks away as Lily defends what they’re doing. Billy appears and notes how frosty that looked. “Newmans! Gotta love ‘em…or not. My vote is not,” Billy admits.
In a flashback, Victor assures Nikki that he had nothing to do with the death of AJ Montalvo. He wants Nikki to drop this and let him handle things his way. In the present, Nikki frets over Billy and shares her concerns with Victor. It seems like Billy’s planning a deep dive into Newman family business.
Victor confronts Billy about ambushing his family moments later. “You live in the muck, don’t you?” Victor asks. He warns Billy about slandering his family, but Billy argues that it’s not slander if it’s true.
Victor reiterates that “Billy Boy” should heed his warning. A flashback shows Victor explaining the story of how Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) killed AJ to protect his mother.
Adam’s out for a run when he bumps into Billy and spars with him. Billy offers to let Adam speak on tape, but Adam isn’t interested. He thinks Billy’s pathetic. Billy fires back that at the end of the day, Adam will be a “sad little man left all alone.”
Adam flashes back to proposing to Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and then taking down Victor’s portrait. Another flashback shows Adam filling Chelsea in on getting fired and becoming Victor’s fall guy.
Lily meets back up with Billy in the present and they talk about making a good team. They need to prove the assumptions about them wrong and have each other’s back.
Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) appears and talks on camera about Katherine. He remembers how Katherine could always find humor, even during dark times. Lily and Devon reflect on some of the highs and lows of the last year or so.
Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) speaks with Lily next and talks about building her new life in GC. She flashes back to her first kiss with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and then goes to meet him.
When it’s Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) turn, he reflects on Katherine’s perseverance. Lily compares Katherine to Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams), so Jack thinks about Dina moving back home for her final days.
Jack thinks whatever lies ahead for their fair city “is sure to be unexpected and probably explosive!” At Sharon’s place, she tells Rey she’s feeling everything and nothing all at once. Sharon’s glad Rey’s home now because she needs his support.
At Society, Devon thinks Katherine may have been the one who sent Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) to him. Elena counters that maybe her mother sent Devon to her instead. Devon thinks whatever they’re on the verge of – it’s something great.
Jack’s somber as he thinks about Dina at home while Billy’s back in the office thinking about the day’s events. Billy knows Adam screwed up somehow, so she frets over him using Chance Com to carry out his vendetta against the Newmans. Billy assures Lily that they’re a team, so he won’t mess things up for them.
The mood’s eerie as Victor looks out the window at the ranch. “I feel a chill in the air. I think a storm is coming,” Victor says to Nikki. That’s it for this exciting first episode back, but there are many more to come! We’ll pass along updates as other Y&R news rolls in.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say some bombs will drop on GC in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. CDL’s where you want to be for sizzling Young and the Restless spoilers, news and updates.
