The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Thursday, December 24 – Summer’s Unpleasant Sally Surprise – Billy & Lily Go Public

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Thursday, December 24, teases that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is still hard at work, so Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) insists that even CEOs get Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off.

Victoria says it’s still early and fills Nikki in on the “family fun time” the kids are set to have with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) later.

Talk turns to the London trip Nikki talked Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) into. Victoria brings up all the Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) drama and mentions how her dad has been “especially dad-like lately. With Adam out of their lives and Billy free, this really will be merry Christmas according to Victoria.

In Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) suite, shirtless Billy looks happy under the covers. Lily thinks it’s mostly because Billy is free, but he disagrees. Billy can’t remember the last time he felt this close to anyone. Lily knows Billy usually keeps his walls up, but they’ll be time to go deeper if whatever this is progresses.

“Do you want it to progress?” Billy asks. Lily is very much in favor of that, but she’s going in cautiously. Billy gets it due to his history, but Lily has baggage as well. She says her feelings about taking things slow are about her, not Billy.

Billy thinks this feels different for him; he can trust Lily and be himself with her. Billy can be the man he wants to be – the man he wants to be for Lily. They shift the conversation to something light. Billy’s going to see the kids later. Lily has an errand to run and will spend some time with Devon. Then, Lily plans to catch a flight to New York to see the twins.

That means Billy and Lily have time for dinner, so Billy steps in the shower. Lily agrees to get some clothes for Billy from his suite, so he tells her to just grab his room key.

She finds a present behind Billy’s pillow, so he peeks back out and tells her she can open it. There’s a sweet note of gratitude, which Lily reads and then opens the present. It’s a beautiful bracelet, so Lily admires it and dashes out in a hurry.

At Crimson Lights, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is on the phone talking about backup gifts. He worries the jeweler can’t make the changes to Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) necklace in time. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) says to have a little faith.

On the patio, Summer worries Kyle’s tie clip won’t be ready in time either. She gets reassurance from Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) before bumping into Kyle in the main dining area.

They have an awkward encounter about having the same idea…about coffee. It’s decided that they’ll go their separate ways for a bit and meet up later.

At the Abbott mansion, Jack looks at his “Jacky” ornament and thinks back on a memory of Dina. Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) walks over and admits she can’t believe Dina’s gone.

Over in Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) suite, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) is glad to support Amanda however he can on this birth mom trip. Amanda’s sure this will bring up some tough emotions for Devon, too. This is also Hilary Curtis Hamilton’s (Mishael Morgan) birth mom.

Devon thinks they should call Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey) beforehand to make sure this meeting works out. Amanda’s PI has been keeping tabs on Naya, but she’s torn about giving her a courtesy call. If Amanda does call, then Naya might tell her to stay away – and Amanda will never know what she needs to know.

On the other hand, it seems like an ambush if Amanda just shows up saying she’s the daughter Naya abandoned. Who knows how Naya will react? Amanda starts thinking maybe they should wait until after the holidays.

She’s worried this reunion won’t go well, but Devon suggests people are usually a little more accepting during the holidays.

Amanda decides it’s better to know the reality than sit around wondering. She finally determines they should just get in the car and go. Devon says they’ll drive over and then call.

Naya might be more inclined to take the meeting knowing Amanda is close by. It needs to feel less like a confrontation and more like two people getting to know each other.

Back at the Abbott house on Thursday’s Young and the Restless episode, Jack and Ashley are counting their blessings. Talk turns to Summer and Kyle doing well now. If their gifts are finished in time, there’ll be some big smiles. Jack mentions how he stepped in as Santa’s helper along with Phyllis and really enjoyed it.

At The Grand Phoenix, Kyle and Summer are both uneasy as they await their deliveries. They bump into each other and decide they’ll wait together. Summer and Kyle discuss Christmas plans until Kyle admits he’s worried his delivery isn’t coming – and Summer admits the same thing.

Summer had an incredible gift planned and confesses she had diamonds added from her infinity necklace to Kyle’s emerald tie clip.

Kyle can’t believe this. He reveals he had the emerald from his tie clip split into two so he could put it in Summer’s necklace. Now they’re both sitting there emptyhanded, but it’s the thought that counts.

Kyle suggests their presents are taking their lead by taking it slow, but someone interrupts and says both of them have a delivery.

Summer and Kyle show each other the finished products and love the results. Kyle talks about combining their histories and their future. Summer wanted Kyle to have a piece of infinity necklace since he’s her forever.

Nikki brings some goodies for the Abbott family, so Jack gets her to stay for mint tea. Jack then answers the door to Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), who brought some chocolates. Sally meets Nikki and Ashley, who’s curious how Jack and Sally know each other.

Jack explains how Sally is Lauren Baldwin’s (Tracey E. Bregman) new assistant. She’s new in town, so Jack wanted to invite Sally. “The more the merrier, right?” Jack says with a grin.

Ashley hears about Nikki’s London trip and decides she might go see Noah Newman’s (Robert Adamson) art installation after her new fragrance launches. Sally gushes over meeting these two fabulous women at the top of their game.

Ashley’s sure that if Sally puts in the work, she’ll do great at Fenmore’s. “That’s the plan,” Sally insists.

After Ashley and Nikki step in the kitchen, Sally seems disappointed to learn Jack doesn’t expect Summer and Kyle until tomorrow. Jack says it that’s why Sally came, he made it very clear Summer and Kyle are a real couple.

Sally says it was an innocent question – she swears! She was just trying to make nice. “Tis the season,” Sally says with a tip of her glass. Jack smiles and raises his glass, too.

In the car, Amanda looks at Naya’s house and notes that she clearly still has money. This is a far cry from what things looked like for Amanda growing up – and Hilary, too.

Devon wonders if Amanda’s ready. “No…yes…You know, I think I’m gonna take your advice. I’m gonna call her,” Amanda decides. She’ll introduce herself and tell the woman who gave birth to her that she’s outside and willing to meet her.

Back in Lily’s suite, she shows how thankful she is for the bracelet by making love to him. Afterward, Billy opens his own present. It’s a scarf that Lily thought would look so good on him.

Billy loves it and throws it around his neck. “I don’t want to jinx anything, but I would say this romance is off to a smashing start,” Billy says. Lily insists the feeling is mutual.

At the Abbott mansion again, Sally tells Jack an embarrassing story about trying to steal the show at the Christmas pageant when she was younger. She wanted to prove she deserved the lead role, so she broke out into Jingle Bells on some stairs – and quickly learned the stairs were just meant for decoration.

It led to a disastrous tumble, but Sally got plenty of compliments on her elf outfit – which she made herself. Sally wasn’t cut out to be an actress, but she found her passion for fashion.

Suddenly, Summer barges in and looks unsettled by Sally’s presence. Summer hopes he isn’t interrupting and admits Kyle came along, too.

“Sally,” Kyle says awkwardly once he enters. “Hi,” Sally says as she grins. Summer and Kyle are there to thank Jack for helping make their Christmas wishes come true. After Jack admires the finished gifts, Sally asks to see. She calls Kyle’s tie clip “breathtaking” and thinks it’s “really cool” that they could surprise each other that way.

Summer looks like she can’t stand this and wants to bolt, but Jack convinces Summer and Kyle to stay for hot chocolate. While Jack’s getting the cocoa, Summer glares at Sally on the sofa nearby.

Kyle brings up drinking cocoa there as kids. Who knew they’d end up back there as adults doing the same thing together? Sally sips her wine and looks like she thinks this whole thing is a sappy cringe-fest.

Amanda’s still in the car and keeps getting Naya’s voicemail. Amanda feels like Naya isn’t answering because she doesn’t recognize the number. After Amanda decides to ring the doorbell, she says she’ll signal Devon to join her if she’s allowed inside.

Suddenly, another woman appears. “Hey, Mom! Open the door!” the woman yells.

Naya opens up and exchanges Christmas greetings with her daughter. “Oh, Imani, look at those Christmas presents. You spoil me! Come on in,” Naya says enthusiastically. Amanda looks livid as she stares in the distance.

After Amanda gets back in the car, she admits she imagined a million ways this might go. This one really left Amanda stunned. She reflects on Naya having another daughter she raised and wanted. Devon is so sorry, but he’s there for her. All Amanda wants right now is to go home.

Billy and Lily are at Society when Victoria appears. Victoria says she’s got a “party for two” – just Victoria and her tablet. Lily and Billy insist that Victoria should join them, so she relents.

Victoria comments on Billy’s scarf and learns it was from Lily. Victoria notices Lily’s bracelet next and realizes it was from Billy, so she gathers that they’ve gone beyond close friendship.

Although Victoria expected this, she didn’t know they’d decide to go public. “Neither did I…until today,” Lily admits. Victoria seems jealous, but she says she’s thrilled for Lily and Billy.

After Victoria gets a text, she says there’s a problem at Newman and takes off. Lily doesn’t think Victoria likes the fact that they’re together, but Billy says that’s up to Victoria. As for Billy, he loves the fact that they’re together.

As Kyle and Summer approach her suite back at the hotel, Summer rants about Sally being conniving and phony. Can’t Summer just get one day away from her?! Kyle says his dad has a big heart and likes taking in strays. When they enter the suite, Summer’s amazed by the holiday scene Kyle had arranged.

Christmas music plays as Kyle and Summer toast – and Billy and Lily laugh at Society. Victoria is working at the office until she looks at a framed pic of the kids and decides to go home.

Jack gazes at his ornament again before toasting with Sally and Ashley. This Y&R episode wraps up as the camera pans to an Abbott family photo and a Christmas greeting is displayed for fans.
