The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Tuesday, December 22, reveals that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) debate whether they should go on their New Orleans trip.
Since Johnny Abbott (Holden and Ryan Hare) has been battling concerns about Billy not making it back in time for Christmas, Lily no longer believes this trip is a good idea.
Billy tries to convince Lily, but she argues that there a million things that could go wrong. They can’t risk Billy not being there on Christmas morning since it’d break Johnny and Katie Abbott’s (Sienni Mercuri) hearts – and Billy would never forgive himself.
Billy decides Lily is right, so they’ll postpone their trip until later and maybe even do something better. Billy boasts about being a “fountain of creativity when it comes to romance.” He’s still so grateful to Lily and will listen to her instincts from now on.
Billy dashes off to plan a surprise for Lily, but he tells her to keep her schedule open before he goes.
At the Chancellor mansion, Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) fills Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) in on the fertility idol his buddy got him as a wedding gift.
Chance laughs about it, but Abby says not to knock it since they might need it. She glumly informs Chance that she was hoping to surprise Chance with the news of her pregnancy on Christmas morning, but it’s not happening this month.
Chance assures Abby that it’s completely normal and insists they’ve only been married like 10 minutes. He looks at the bright side and says this means they can have some Champagne as they wrap up the year. The best part according to Chance is that they get to “try, try, try again” for a baby.
Abby gets a call from Billy, so she says she’s so happy he was exonerated. After Abby hints about Billy celebrating, he admits that’s what he has in mind. Billy has an idea to run by Abby, so she listens to his pitch and calls it very romantic.
She’s just not certain it’s possible on such short notice and suggests he’ll have to talk to Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle).
Abby hangs up and updates Chance on Billy sweeping Lily off her feet. Suddenly, the doorbell rings and Abby wonders who it could be. It turns out it’s Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson).
They catch up with Chance and Abby, who looks upset when Chloe mentions how much work newborns can be.
Kevin also talks about the new house and how they didn’t want their kids to get used to living in a mansion, so Abby looks upset once again. Kevin realizes he’s bungling this, so he says they’re just not mansion people – he’s sure Chance and Abby’s kids will love it.
Abby remains bothered by the kid conversation, she claims she has to take off to handle something at Society. Chance tells Chloe and Kevin that Abby’s just having an off day. He leaves Kevin and Chloe to grab the rest of their stuff while he dashes off to check on Abby.
In Society’s kitchen, Billy appears and talks to Lola about Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) going above and beyond to solve the case. Now Billy’s hoping Lola will go above and beyond for a different reason.
On the Crimson Lights patio, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) admits he never really saw himself as the teaching type, but he enjoys spending time with the first-year residents. Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) is sure Nate is a phenomenal teacher.
Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) appears, so there’s plenty of tension – though Devon doesn’t want there to be. He hopes they can all just move on, so Nate says that’s fair enough.
After Devon asks about Nate’s hand, Nate admits he had another operation and doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to perform surgery again. Devon assures Nate that he didn’t mean for that to happen, and Nate knows.
Elena gets increasingly upset over seeing Devon and finally excuses herself from the table. Nate insists Elena’s still having a rough time with encounters like this. “I don’t want you to think this whole thing has been easy for her because it hasn’t been,” Nate insists. “I guess that’s true all around,” Devon replies.
After Devon grabs some coffee, Elena returns to the table and stares at him through the doorway. She imagines they’re a couple again and making all kinds of Christmas tradition plans. Elena and Devon kiss under the mistletoe before Nate pipes up and snaps Elena out of her daydream.
Nate says Devon will be fine, but Elena thinks Devon is covering up his pain. Nate doesn’t think that changes what Devon said – and Nate agrees with it’s time that they all moved on with their lives.
Back with Lola, she’s impressed by the personal menu Billy’s created and loves a challenge. However, Lola doesn’t think she can pull this off and still handle a packed house at Society. Billy insists that he rented out the whole restaurant, so Lola’s on board and gets to work.
Moments later, Billy calls Lily to let her know the arrangements have been made for her surprise. Lily is instructed to be at Society in an hour, but Billy won’t tell her anything more.
As Lily hangs up in The Grand Phoenix lobby, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) appears and hears the celebration news. Lily’s a little nervous, so Amanda wonders if Lily and Billy are getting serious. Lily thinks so and hopes they are. She could use a favor and invites Amanda up to her suite to help with her wardrobe selection.
Lily models a few dresses as fashion show-y music plays – and Amanda finally sees the one that’ll make Billy forget his own name when he sees it. After Lily thanks Amanda for her help, Amanda steps in the hall and takes a phone call that leaves her in shock. “Wait, what is it? No, that can’t be,” Amanda declares.
Abby shows up at Society and praises Billy’s elaborate romantic setup. Talk turns to Billy’s dream while he was behind bars. Abby insists that when the evidence mounted, she still knew Billy wasn’t the shooter.
Billy’s glad the truth came out because he loves Abby and doesn’t want to let anything ruin their bond. Abby promises that would never happen.
Suddenly, Chance appears looking for Abby. After Billy steps away, Abby acknowledges that Chance came to check on her and assures him she’s OK. With all the baby talk earlier, she was just a little sensitive.
Abby knows this pregnancy is going to happen for them – and soon. After Chance gets inspired by Billy’s romantic setup, he pushes Abby to do some Christmas shopping while he plans it.
As for Billy, he greets Lily and whips her up a special cocktail. Lily and Billy toast as they decide they’ll have just as much fun as they would’ve had in New Orleans – or maybe even more.
After dinner, Billy teases Lily about how she was “moaning with ecstasy” during the meal and mimics her orgasmic reaction to the beignets.
Billy drops flirty hints about what he wants to do right now, so Lily mistakenly thinks he means sleeping together. She’d rather do it back at the hotel, so Billy says “The Big Easy” refers to New Orleans – not him! Billy just wants to dance with Lily, so she says she’d be delighted.
At the coffeehouse again, Devon gazes at Elena and has a flashback of their first “I love you” exchange. Devon also has a flashback of when Elena came clean about sleeping with Nate – and another one of when he kicked Elena out of the penthouse.
Once Devon is gone, Nate talks to Elena about Lola staying out late for a private party at the restaurant. Elena gets a little uncomfortable and suggests she’d invite Nate up to the apartment, but she’s exhausted.
Nate admits he was trying to get Elena to invite him up, but he understands. He also has an idea that won’t solve everything, but it might make Elena feel better.
Nate suggests they should go away for a few days together and gets subs to fill in at the hospital. Elena assures Nate is sounds like a great idea, but she doesn’t think she’s ready for that. However, Elena does promise to think about it.
Over with Chloe and Kevin, they finish packing up their belongings and reflect on some warm memories at the Chancellor mansion. Chloe gets rather sentimental, so Kevin worries she’s having second thoughts about moving. Chloe promises it’s a simple case of nostalgia and really likes their new house.
Kevin picks up the decorative box behind the sofa and realizes there’s a thumb drive inside. Chloe guesses it belongs to Chance or maybe even Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan).
Kevin guesses Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) might have stored corporate secrets. He assumes they’ll be opening a “digital can of worms” if they look at what’s on it and Chloe unconvincingly suggests they should put it back.
Once Chance returns, Kevin mentions the thumb drive while Chloe’s out of the room. Chloe assumes it belongs to Jill and says he can take it off Kevin’s hands. Chloe reappears moments later and claims she texted Esther Valentine (Kate Linder) to confirm it was hers.
She lies that it has pictures of the kids on it, so Chance buys it no problem and makes a phone call to get something delivered ASAP.
Later on Tuesday’s Young and the Restless episode, Abby comes home to find tons of tropical plants and other reminders of their time on the island.
Chance wants to keep his promise about the honeymoon lasting the rest of their lives. He also has a gift for Abby – a little elephant ornament that’s for their baby’s first Christmas.
Chloe makes it to Crimson Lights with Kevin and pushes him to see what’s in the thumb drive. They need some excitement in their lives – and Chloe thinks maybe there’s some good treasure to be found. Kevin groans over finding a picture of Gloria Fisher Bardwell (Judith Chapman) when he opens up the first file.
The other files are password protected, but Kevin says Gloria always uses the same one and punches it in. After Kevin pulls everything up, he says it’s got something to do with Newman Enterprises.
Chloe exclaims over $2.3 million dollars being involved, but Kevin shushes her. There’s a wire transfer from California bank to the Grand Cayman Islands.
“Someone from Newman’s Los Angeles office has been siphoning funds…stealing money and sending the cash through a third party to an offshore account,” Kevin says on Monday’s Y&R episode. Chloe and Kevin wonder how Gloria got all this information – and what she’s going to do with it.
At Devon’s penthouse, Amanda stops by and fills him in on her PI’s latest news. Devon’s taken aback to learn that Amanda’s birth mother may have been found.
Finally, Billy thanks Lily for the dance and for everything she’s done for him. Lily and Billy also offer Lola their gratitude before they head out for the night.
