The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Tuesday, September 8 – Chance Assumes Sharon & Adam Cheating, Vows Not to Tell Chelsea

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Tuesday, September 8, teases that some major confrontations are ahead. At Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) motel room, he opens the door to find Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz).

Adam wants to know how Chance tracked him down. “This is what I do, man,” Chance replies with a shrug.

Chance insists he was the one who went to Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), who said Adam went AWOL. Now that Chance is there, he insists Adam’s got a serious problem.

They argue about the Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) situation, but Adam makes it clear that he doesn’t want Chance’s help.

All that Adam needs right now is to be alone, so Chance says no problem. He’ll leave as soon as Adam tells him what’s going on. When Adam refuses to come clean, Chance sits down and insists he doesn’t have anywhere to be until tomorrow.

Adam argues Chance is wasting his time; this particular problem isn’t in Chance’s wheelhouse.

At Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) place, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) learns Sharon’s pathology report is in. Sharon needs to head to her appointment to talk about what’s next, but she informs Rey that she’s going alone.

Rey tries to sell Sharon on the idea of letting him come along as a dedicated notetaker and cheerleader. He feels they need to stick together, but Sharon stands her ground on going solo. However, Sharon does get confirmation that Rey will be waiting for her when she gets home.

At Society, Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) comes back and insists he got a “weird vibe” from Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) before – just like the one he’s getting now.

Theo wonders if Lola wants to tell him what’s going on or let him play guessing games all day. Lola insists she doesn’t have that luxury since there’ll be a rush of customers soon. Theo decides he can wait, so Lola tells him “suit yourself.”

Later, Lola comes out of the kitchen and sees Theo sitting at the bar. When Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) calls about something work-related, Lola ignores Theo and dashes off to deal with it.

When Lola resurfaces, Theo calls out to her. He forces her to address what went wrong between them, so Lola calls Theo a “time suck” and clarifies that she means a waste of her time.

Lola argues that she’s got a kitchen to run, so when she makes time for someone – it matters. She wonders if Theo thinks his time is more valuable than hers and complains about him blowing her off before.

Lola contends that Theo wasn’t in some high-powered business meeting with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson); Theo was shooting the breeze with his boss about sports!

When Theo argues that’s how they work, Lola insists she wasn’t looking for a relationship. She just wanted a text – a common courtesy. Lola’s not like the other women in Theo’s life “that are so eager to bask in the glory of Theo.”

She has a job, a life and standards. Lola feels like things changed after they took it to the next level and now Theo can’t even be bothered to send her a text message.

Theo apologizes for screwing up, but he seems annoyed at this point. Lola suggests Theo should leave since she doesn’t want to be around him right now. When Rey appears, he wonders if everything’s all right.

Lola claims it’s just “Theo being Theo” and assures Rey she can handle it. Rey’s there to pick up dinner since “it’s not always easy being with a strong-willed, independent woman.”

Back at home, Sharon returns and calls out asking for Rey. Since Rey’s nowhere to be found, Sharon sits alone and reads the pathology results. When she’s done, Sharon looks upset and puts the report on a nearby table.

In Society’s kitchen, Rey admits he wanted to be with Sharon when she got her pathology report. Sharon preferred to deal with the news on her own. Lola wonders what Rey thinks the doctor’s going to say.

Rey knows what he hopes for, but he also knows things could get far worse after this appointment. Rey isn’t prepared for the doctor’s updates, but he knows they’ll get through this.

At Crimson Lights, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) talks to Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) about Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) sudden desire for a DNA test. Elena’s surprised to learn Nate told Amanda how simple it would be. Nate argues that it’ll be good for Amanda to know if she’s related to Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Mishael Morgan); Amanda won’t have this question hanging over her anymore.

Elena concedes Nate’s probably right, but Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) been wrestling with this decision. Nate insists that if Devon can’t provide Hilary’s DNA sample, then Amanda will understand. Moments later, a text comes in from Devon. Elena thinks Devon’s made up his mind.

Devon arrives later and admits it’s been a rough 24 hours of soul-searching, but he ended up taking Elena’s advice about following his heart. Now that Devon’s thought about what Hilary would want, he’s ready to hand over a box he found with Hilary’s comb, barrettes and hair ties in it.

Devon feels confident there should be enough material inside to determine if Hilary and Amanda are sisters.

Devon confesses that it’s weird overseeing Hilary’s legacy like this. Although Hilary loved her mom, she never really showed interest in her family’s history. Elena wonders why Devon thinks Hilary would approve of the DNA test then.

Devon argues that Hilary wasn’t interested because she didn’t feel connected. He suspects Hilary would feel differently if that connection could become real.

Devon relates it to his own story and how he found a sense of belonging. “That’s all Hilary ever wanted: to belong,” Devon insists. Elena warns all of this could still just be a coincidence.

Nate suggests it’d mean just as much for Amanda to know she had a sister as it would’ve meant to Hilary, so he’ll get right on the DNA test.

Devon’s grateful to Elena for helping him figure this out. He wants to help Amanda as someone who grew up as a fellow foster kid. “You are so thoughtful it’s disgusting,” Elena insists and kisses Devon, who heads to a meeting in Tuesday’s Y&R episode.

Soon after, Elena talks to Nate at the park. She’s upset about the DNA test and feels like she should’ve told Devon not to do it. Nate doesn’t think the results of the DNA test will change anything, but Elena worries this could pull Devon and Amanda together.

They’ve already bonded over their common backgrounds and Amanda looks just like Hilary.

Elena thinks she has a reason to worry if the results show Amanda is Hilary’s sister. When you put it all together, it’s not that irrational. Nate argues that Elena is spinning out and pushes her to relax.

He assures Elena that Devon is devoted to her. Elena knows that, but the thinks things may change whether they want them to or not.

Back in Adam’s motel room, Chance doesn’t understand why Adam bailed on his family and “pissed off” a reporter who used to be a friend. He wonders if the two things are connected and doesn’t get why Adam’s staying at this seedy no-tell motel.

Adam insists he has his reasons for that. There’s a knock at the door, so Chance opens it to find Sharon.

“I did not expect that,” a stunned Chance says in Tuesday’s Young and the Restless episode. Sharon wonders what Chance means. “This…this is none of my business,” Chance insists. “And don’t worry, I won’t tell Chelsea. Damn!” Chance shakes his head in disapproval as he exits.

Sharon’s upset over Adam letting Chance believe they’re having an affair. This is the last thing Sharon needs and worries it’ll get back to Rey. Adam argues Chance won’t tell anyone, but Sharon isn’t convinced. If Chelsea thinks Adam’s cheating on her, then she’ll leave him – but Sharon thinks maybe that’s what Adam wants.

Adam insists that’s not the case, but he feels like Chance will leave them alone if he thinks they’re up to something scandalous. That way they can continue their sessions in peace. Sharon feels like Adam’s making this all about him and rants about his childhood trauma. There are people dealing with real problems in the here and now!

Adam asks if Sharon thinks his problems aren’t real, so Sharon admits they are. It’s just that Adam’s chosen to run instead of dealing with them. Sharon decides Adam can make his own choices, but he has to leave her out of it. “This isn’t going to work, Adam,” Sharon declares. “I can’t help you anymore.”

Adam begs Sharon to reconsider and promises he’ll talk to Chance. Sharon can even tell Rey they’re meeting at Adam’s motel if she wants. Adam just pleads with Sharon not to abandon him. Sharon wishes Adam good luck and means it, but she insists she’s out.

Over at the cottage, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) fills Rey in on her encounter with a pack of squealing tween “Teriah” fans at the mall. Rey smiles over Mariah and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) becoming “a thing” and accepts an offer for tea.

Once Rey’s alone, he spots the pathology report and looks concerned after he opens it. When Mariah returns, Rey suggests it might be good if it’s just him when Sharon gets back.

At the Grand Phoenix, Theo texts Lola hoping they can talk. Lola texts back that she’s tired and intends to crash now. An annoyed Theo scoffs and takes a sip of his drink. Back with Adam, he sits on the motel room floor and looks distraught.

Sharon finally makes it home and points out that Rey wasn’t waiting for her like he said he’d be. Rey’s sorry and knows about the pathology results. He insists it’s going to be OK, but Sharon breaks down in tears as she sinks on the step.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Sharon’s setback will bring more struggles, so stay tuned to see how she handles them. CDL’s your hotspot for other great Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news, so Y&R fans will want to stop by often.
