The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Wednesday, August 12 – Adam Summons Farm Caretaker, Chelsea Panics – Summer Waves White Flag

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Wednesday, August 12, teases that we’ll see some shockers for several Genoa City residents. At the penthouse, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) slams a file in frustration and leaves Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) encouraging him to take a break.

Adam’s been at it for hours, but The Young and the Restless spoilers say he won’t rest until he finds proof that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) killed AJ Montalvo. Adam assures Chelsea of his innocence.

At the ranch, Victor leaves Adam a voicemail. He gets that Adam’s furious and wishes he didn’t have to tell Adam the truth – but it is the truth. “I’m sorry…I really am,” Victor says in his message.

Back with Chelsea, she doesn’t think Adam will find what he’s looking for in that box. Chelsea denies believing that Adam’s responsible, but Adam’s focused on how cruel Victor’s being for weaponizing part of his childhood.

Adam complains about his mother being dragged into Victor’s conspiracy and won’t let Victor take him down like this.

Chelsea tells Adam she’s got some errands to run and gives Adam some space, but she seems pensive when she steps outside the door. Adam texts Alyssa back inside and hopes they can meet to talk. Alyssa refuses since Adam used her and feels all this needs to stay in the past. She doesn’t want to be contacted again.

At the ranch, Chelsea confronts Victor about his “psychological torture.” Victor repeats the story of Adam pushing AJ Montalvo to his death as a boy – but only to protect his mother. Victor shielded Adam, who had blocked it out since it was so traumatizing.

Victor assures Chelsea that’s the truth, but Chelsea wonders why he didn’t get help for Adam. And what about Hope? Victor argues that Hope agreed with his course of action. Chelsea points out there’s no one to corroborate Victor’s story, but he insists there is.

Victor notes that the farm’s caretaker, George, knows exactly what happened. Chelsea finds that hard to believe, but Victor contends that George was loyal. Chelsea argues that Adam’s going to be fine; they’re both survivors and she’ll be by his side through whatever comes next.

Chelsea comes home and sidesteps Adam’s question about where she’s been. Adam mentions Alyssa and assumes Victor got to her.

He brings up George the caretaker and how Victor said George moved AJ’s body. “I have to talk to him,” Adam says. “He’s the one person that could clear this up once and for all.” Chelsea nervously asks if Adam’s sure he wants to do that.

At Society, Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) excited to go on a proper date with Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) for the first time in a while. Elena brings up the first recipient of a scholarship in Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) memory and gushes about Devon changing a life.

Devon reflects on how fresh the loss of Neil still feels, but he knows Neil wouldn’t want him to focus on his grief. Devon wishes Neil could’ve met Elena and knows he would’ve loved her.

Elena thinks she loves Neil through Devon. They talk about how they’ve changed each other’s lives before Devon sweetly kisses Elena’s hand.

At The Grand Phoenix, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) goes to see Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) and gets her to admit it’s a good surprise. They flirt and talk about Amanda’s new job as well as her recent interview on camera.

Nate’s flattered to know Amanda talked about him. He wants to make plans for later, but Amanda has to take a raincheck due to work.

Back at Society, Devon talks about everything Elena’s doing at the clinic and how happy she is. Nate calls Elena and wonders if she can come help with all the walk-ins. Devon insists it’s fine and wants her to go do her thing.

At the clinic, Nate’s grateful after Elena’s help with the flood of patients. Elena praises Nate’s best qualities and compares him to Devon. She thinks they’re both going to be good fathers.

Nate argues he’s a few years away from that, but his interest is piqued about Devon and Elena. She suggests she was merely making an observation about two good men who’d be good fathers someday.

Meanwhile, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) fills Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) in on how Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will give her a hotel to rehab if she’ll stop construction across the street.

Chance thinks it’s a great deal, but he knows Abby’s opinion is the one that matters. Nick’s curious to find out Abby’s decision, so she admits she’s made one.

Abby thinks the offer is generous and insane, but she doesn’t believe Phyllis should be rewarded. Nick keeps trying, but Abby warns him not to get in the middle of it. He advises Abby to keep mulling it over and accept that it’s a win-win situation.

At Crimson Lights, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) tells Summer Newman (Hunter King) she wants to celebrate her good news. Phyllis talks about Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) getting ousted from Jabot, but her mood’s strange.

Summer finds her mother overly “peppy” and “perky,” so she pushes to find out what’s going on. Phyllis confesses she has something to tell Summer and wants her to sit down. Phyllis tells Summer that she’s back together with Nick after their in-depth discussions. Summer says she’s fine with it, although she’s already voiced her concerns.

Phyllis contends that it’s going to be different this time. “Maybe…maybe not,” Summer suggests in Wednesday’s Y&R episode. However, Summer can’t predict the future any more than Phyllis can, so she thinks Nick and Phyllis have every right to pursue a relationship.

Summer suggests that resistance is futile, so she’s waving her white flag.

Later, Summer updates Nick on giving her “live and let live” approach to the “Phick” reunion. She notices a glint in Nick’s eyes and grills him about what he’s up to, but she ultimately decides she doesn’t even want to know anymore.

Phyllis finds Amanda buried in her phone again and gives her advice from one workaholic to another. She thinks Amanda needs to enjoy her life. As for the war with Abby, Phyllis isn’t giving up. “Abby thinks she has the upper hand…the night is still young,” Phyllis says.

Chance talks to Abby about all the energy her battle with Phyllis takes – energy that he feels could be put to better use. They flirt as Abby wonders what Chance has in mind.

Later, the construction noise stops just before Abby gets a call about her site. Abby hangs up and declares that Phyllis may have won this round, but this isn’t over.

Back with Nick and Phyllis, they also acknowledge the construction commotion ceasing and both take credit for it. “I did that!” Nick and Phyllis exclaim simultaneously. Phyllis alludes to her fossil plan and admits you can get anything on the Internet – including mastodon bones.

Nick sighs and wishes Phyllis had told him before. He explains his offer to Abby, which Phyllis finds sweet and amazing.

Elena meets back up with Devon for dessert while Amanda seeks out Nate at the clinic. Nate admits it’s a very good surprise. Over with Chelsea, she’s still nervous about Adam meeting with George. Adam calls George anyway and invites him up to GC for the weekend, which leaves Chelsea looking panicked.
