The Young and the Restless Spoilers Update: Wednesday, December 16 – Billy’s Guilty Verdict – Teen Johnny Is Adam’s Embezzling Protégé

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Wednesday, December 16, teases that Billy’s still in his orange jumpsuit as he tosses in turns on his jail cell cot. Billy hears echoes of things that have been said about the case, but he insists he didn’t do it and was framed.

This launches an elaborate dream sequence – starting with a visit from Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).

“Newsflash: We all pay for our sins, Billy,” Adam insists. “One way or another.” Billy warns Adam that the person who shot him is still out there somewhere, but Adam will wait for the jury to decide that.

Adam thinks Billy belongs in jail, but Billy argues Adam’s the one who needs to be locked up. Adam runs down the list of the ways they’re alike, but Billy snaps that he’s nothing like Adam.

Billy argues that there’s nothing good or redeemable about Adam at all. He goes on a vicious rant, so Adam suggests that must be cathartic. Adam reiterates that Billy is just like him – that’s where Billy’s drive to punish him comes from.

Once Adam invites Billy to walk out the unlocked cell door, Billy hesitates. He gazes at the nearby security cam before deciding to leave, but he’s suddenly at the Abbott mansion.

That’s where Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) wishes they could have a hard reset on today. It only took the jury about 10 minutes to find Billy guilty – despite Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) best efforts.

Billy can’t be heard or seen, but he realizes this is set in the future – after he’s been convicted of attempted murder. Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will never forget Michael Baldwin’s (Christian LeBlanc) disparaging words. It took everything in Lily to stop herself from standing up and screaming about the lies.

Jack admits Michael’s characterization of Billy was truthful, so he isn’t sure how much help he’ll be as a character witness. Amanda notes that in the eyes of the law, Billy is a violent felon. She has to go get ready to file Billy’s appeal.

Jack points out that Lily hasn’t been seeing Billy all that long, so no one would expect her to put her life on hold for him. Billy realizes Jack is right about that.

Suddenly, Billy is at the coffeehouse, where Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) can see him. “You’re the one that shot the man that I love!” Abby rages. Billy denies it, but Abby says she sat in the courtroom every day of his trial – and adds that Billy lied about being at the crime scene.

On Wednesday’s Young and the Restless episode, Abby doesn’t know what to think of Billy anymore. She used to believe they were the most alike out of anyone in the family – they like living on the edge and are rulebreakers.

Abby argues that they were actually selfish and immature. She grew out of that phase, but it became a way of life for Billy.

Abby hates how self-righteous Billy is about “that damn article.” She rants about how Billy exploited people’s pain and gets Billy to admit revenge was a motivator. Everyone has flaws, but Billy is a “chaos junkie” just like Adam according to Abby.

After Abby rushes out, Billy starts to follow her and yells that he’s nothing like Adam. Just then, Billy hears Johnny Abbott (Holden and Ryan Hare) and Katie Abbott (Sienni Mercuri) asking for their daddy who they miss.

Billy appears in Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) office, where she’s explaining things to the kids.

Johnny asks when Daddy can come home again, which Victoria says is a very good question. Billy insists he’ll be home for Christmas, but his family can’t hear him. Victoria uses a story about a time she accused Johnny and Katie of something they didn’t do. The same thing is happening to Billy now.

Johnny argues that Daddy would never hurt anybody, but Victoria insists the judge and jury don’t trust Billy because of his past. They thought he lied. “Do you trust, Daddy?” Katie wonders.

Billy insists that Victoria knows him – she has to know he wouldn’t do this. “Billy, would you stop?! This is difficult enough as it is!” Victoria snaps, suddenly able to see and hear Billy after all.

Victoria tells Billy that this is the hardest thing she’s ever had to do. Billy says he was framed and points out that Victoria almost insisted that he run the article. Victoria wonders if Billy’s blaming her now.

“Tarring and feathering Adam has become like an addiction for you!” Victoria exclaims. She says once upon a time Billy’s kids needed him, but now they need to learn to get along without him.

Billy begs for another chance, but Victoria argues that he just used his last one. “I can’t lose my kids, Vick!” Billy yells. Victoria contends that Billy already has. Billy’s legs are shackled to part of the office, so he can’t go after Victoria as she pushes Johnny and Katie to leave with her.

Back in his cell, Billy’s distraught as Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) appears. “You didn’t think you were going to get off this easy, did you?” Victor wonders. Billy blasts Victor for setting him up.

Victor knows Billy didn’t shoot Chance, but he knows something that others don’t – that Billy was behind the wheel of the car that tried to mow down Adam last year.

Billy says he wasn’t himself back then, but Victor feels like Adam was his truer self. “It’s your demon seed son that belongs in here, not me,” Billy says. Victor’s happy that his grandchildren won’t be subjected to Billy’s toxic influence.

Victor adds that he’ll hire one of Billy’s reporters to run a story on all of Billy’s mistakes and vices. He feels like Billy will be done for when that comes out.

Victor mentions John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) playing favorites with his kids. “Don’t even talk about my father!” Billy says. Victor argues that John felt Jack was superior to Billy.

He calls him “Billy Boy” and insists that’s a child’s name. Billy’s got a child’s mentality and is a perpetual screwup.

Victor came to leave Billy with a parting thought. “You thought you had a future – it’s right here. Blank walls and bars. You can stare at them, you SOB,” Victor says. “It’s better than staring at you,” Billy fires back.

After all the damage Billy has caused to Victoria and her kids, Victor wants Billy to rot in this place.

Billy is at the Chancellor mansion next, which is where he sees a teenage Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono). Billy acknowledges that he knows this is a dream. When Billy wakes up, it’s going to feel like his heart is being ripped out again.

Delia wonders if she should go, but Billy asks her to stay. Seeing Delia’s face and hearing her voice is a little bittersweet.

Delia feels like Billy is sad whenever she sees him. Billy says not to worry about him – that he has a really good lawyer who can figure something out. Delia notes that Billy may be innocent on this, but there have been other incidents.

Billy says he’s kept his promise since the last time he saw Delia. “If you’d been living an honorable life, no one would’ve assumed you committed a crime!” Delia argues.

She doesn’t think Billy can protect Johnny or Katie anymore than he protected her. If Billy could take any day back, it’d be that one. Delia notes that second chances don’t come every day, so you have to grab with both hands.

Since Billy isn’t listening, Delia doesn’t see the point in staying to talk. Billy cries as Delia disappears – then ends up at Chancellor Communications, where Lily is on the phone. She’s determined to help Billy and rant about an innocent man wasting away in prison. Lily won’t stop until Billy is released.

Once Victoria shows up looking for Amanda, she questions how many more years Lily will keep fighting for Billy. It’s a lost cause as far as Victoria is concerned. Victoria is there to get a lawyer for teenage Johnny. “Again?!” Lily exclaims.

Billy realizes someone’s targeting Johnny, so he winds up in an interrogation room with Johnny and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso).

“I’m really sick of seeing your face in here, Johnny Abbott,” Rey says. They talk about how Jack is filing charges because he’s worried about Johnny. He’s almost 18 and this will be his third time in front of a judge.

Rey suspects this is about impressing Uncle Adam, so Billy’s furious to learn Adam’s messing with his son.

A lot of money disappeared from Jabot’s accounts. “Embezzlement is a serious crime,” Rey warns. Johnny covers for Adam and claims it was all his idea. Rey insists it’s not too late to turn this around, so Billy begs Johnny to take the out.

Johnny insists Adam is the only person who “gives a damn” about him and refuses to budge.

Once Billy’s back in his cell, Adam gloats about his protégé. Billy wants Adam to stay away from his son. “He’s not yours anymore; Johnny belongs to me now,” Adam insists.

A few decades have been added to Billy’s sentence because of all the fights he’s gotten into behind bars. Billy’s probably going to die in prison according to Adam. It really broke Johnny’s spirit knowing his dad wasn’t coming home.

Billy feels like even if he can’t stop Adam, then his mom will. “Chelsea, she adores him,” Adam says. Billy’s talking about Victoria, but Adam suggests it doesn’t matter since Johnny is almost grown and can make his own decisions now.

Billy begs Adam not to take another child from him, but Adam can’t walk away from their feud.

At Society, Billy’s in a tuxedo when Lily asks him to open his eyes. Lily says she never gave up on Billy. He thought he had years left on his sentence, but Lily’s been using her powers for good. She put their brilliant journalists on the job, which led to a new witness coming forward and clearing Billy’s name on appeal.

Billy thanks nearby Amanda, who welcomes him back to the world. Lily credits Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) for believing in Billy, too.

Jack appears and insists he’s sorry for letting his doubts get the best of him initially. He’s proud of Billy and hopes his brother has learned his lesson. Billy insists that he has.

“What nonsense!” Victor says. Victor feels like Billy’s life is circling closer and closer to the drain. Victoria hopes that her father’s wrong. Billy vows to spend the rest of his life proving Lily’s faith in him wasn’t misplaced, but she doesn’t need him to prove anything.

“I’m your ride or die,” Lily promises in Wednesday’s Y&R episode. “No matter what you can always count on me.” Billy awakens in his cell and decides that’s true. He feels like together they can make sure his nightmares don’t become reality.
