The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that a never-before-seen character is being mentioned more often – and that’s probably a sign that she’s headed to Genoa City. The man Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) killed in Vegas was married, so there’s a mysterious widow out there. Sooner or later, Y&R will likely let us meet her.
Since we know Courtney Hope (ex-Sally Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful) is headed to The Young and the Restless, this is the most logical character for her to play. The widow is a crucial part of this story, so they can plop Hope’s character right into the action.
Adam is clearly the character that Y&R views as most important, so it makes sense for their latest hire to land in his orbit – at least at first. Hope’s character can drift to other circles later, but it’d be fun to watch her torment Adam a little first.
If Hope’s playing the widow at the center of this Vegas drama, tormenting is indeed what her character will be doing.
Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) has been freaked out over Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) connection to Adam – so much so that Chelsea pounded on Sharon’s door and snarled at her to stay away from her fiancé.
If Chelsea would do that to a breast cancer patient who’s a friend of Adam’s, we shudder to think of how she’ll react to this widow who’s a foe!
However, this widow may wind up calling the shots. Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) about to publish a scandalous story about Adam, but Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) doesn’t expect Adam to land in prison.
Alyssa may not have the goods to bring Adam down like that. This widow, on the other hand, could have evidence to sink Adam and Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) in a big way.
We also know the widow has become accustomed to living in the lap of luxury. Adam’s been footing the bill for her lavish lifestyle – just like the dead husband who came before him. The show implied that this woman was only with the “missing” man for his money.
What if this woman comes to town and demands that Adam become her next husband? Y&R fans will recall that Chelsea suggested a quick wedding at the courthouse not too long ago, but Adam didn’t see the need to rush things.
Instead, Adam felt like they should wait and let their wedding be an event to celebrate their victory.
That decision could come back to bite Adam. Maybe it was laying the groundwork for this widow to swoop in and blackmail Adam into marriage. Why? To secure this lifestyle she wants now and perhaps take half of everything in the divorce later.
It’s easy to imagine Hope playing a Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) type of character who just gets a kick out of this, too.
