The Young and the Restless spoilers for Wednesday, July 29, tease that viewers will see an encore episode that originally aired on May 24, 2005 that chronicles the sad death of Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes).
In the episode, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will sit by Cassie’s side at the hospital as she applies cold compresses to Cassie’s forehead. Noah Newman (Hunter Allan) will be in tears, and Sharon will tell Cassie that her Grandma Doris Collins (Karen Hensel) is there with them.
Cassie will talk weakly to Noah, saying that he’s the best, and that she’ll be his guardian angel going forward. The entire Newman family will be standing vigil by Cassie’s bedside and crying – even Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will be emotional and consumed with grief.
Victor will briefly talk with Olivia Winters (Tonya Lee Williams), who will say that specialists are coming, but their plane is delayed due to the fog.
Cassie will talk to each of her family members to say her final goodbyes. Cassie will talk with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), asking her to take care of her dad Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Cassie will then talk with Victor about the time when they went horseback riding with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).
Soon, Olivia will emerge to make sure that Cassie isn’t in pain, and Victor will hear that the specialists from Johns Hopkins have arrived, but that Cassie has gotten worse and that she’s not responding to antibiotics.
Olivia will think that Cassie needs to spend some time alone with Nick and Sharon. Cassie will tell Victor and Nikki that she loves them, and then Victor and Nikki will step out of the room, leaving Cassie with her parents.
Sharon and Nick will spend their final moments with Cassie, as they reminisce about their daughter’s life over the years. Nick will tell his daughter that he’s cherished every moment with her, and Cassie will tell Sharon that someday she’ll have another little girl.
Sharon will note that Cassie is her little girl and that she’s brought her and Nick great joy.
Finally, Cassie will whisper something to Nick that surprises him, then she’ll tell her parents that she’s tired and needs to sleep. Nick will sing a lullaby to Cassie, but he’ll start crying and won’t be able to finish.
Sharon and Nick will cry as viewers see flashbacks to Cassie’s life. Ultimately, Cassie will pass away peacefully as her monitor flatlines.
Meanwhile, Mackenzie “Mac” Browning (Rachel Kimsey) will tell JT Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) that she’s going to give him another chance and that she’ll move back into the loft with him.
And over at Crimson Lights, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will tell Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) that he needs to stop sneaking around to see Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), and that she’ll allow Lily and Daniel to have a final goodbye out on the patio.
As Daniel and Lily are talking, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will join Phyllis, who will relay that she’s worried about losing her job. Jack will tell her that she has been through far worse in the past, and that she’ll get through this. Out on the patio, Daniel will insist to Lily that he wants to keep hiding out at the Abbott estate.
Soon, Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) will arrive and Daniel will take off. Malcolm will sit down with Lily for a talk, wanting her assurance that she’s not going to run off with Daniel.
Lily will tell Malcolm that she won’t. Finally, over at the Abbott estate, Daniel will arrive to find the press waiting for him. The press will hound Daniel, and Jack will make them leave the property.
