The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers preview for the week of June 22-26 teases that the Daytime Emmy Awards show is just around the corner, so Y&R’s kicking off some special episodes to celebrate. It’s “Emmy Week” and that means they’ll deliver five episodes featuring Daytime Emmy winners of the past. Let’s dive in and look at some of the gripping moments you can expect.
On Monday, The Young and the Restless will re-air a fantastic episode from way back in 1984. Not only did Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott) win a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress, she was the first performer on Y&R to take home the Daytime Emmy honor. “I just don’t wanna go on living,” Traci says in a clip from a powerful new promo.
Tuesday’s episode is a throwback from 1997, which includes an incredible performance from Eric Braeden (Victor Newman). In this encore, Victor seeks a fresh start with Hope Wilson (Signy Coleman) and a tiny Adam Newman. “I would never allow him to grow up without a father,” Victor insists in this week’s preview video. These scenes won Braeden a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor.
As a side note, Tuesday will also feature Camryn Grimes’ debut as Cassie Newman. That’s another great reason to tune in! If you’ve never seen Cassie’s first episode or just want to watch it again, here’s your chance.
On Wednesday, The Young and the Restless is taking us back to 2006. In this intense episode, Bryton James (Devon James) gives the performance that won him a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor. As Devon deals with hearing loss and faces lies from his family, the result is a major outburst. “I saw everything and don’t you dare tell me that I didn’t,” Devon insists in the promo.
Thursday’s 1991 episode won Peter Bergman a Daytime Emmy of his own – one for Outstanding Lead Actor. “What is happening to me, Dad?” Jack wonders with tears in his eyes. “I want it to end.” This episode includes some big admissions from Jack regarding his marriage to Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).
On Friday, Y&R’s wrapping things up with the episode that won Camryn Grimes her first Daytime Emmy. This 1999 classic led to Grimes being the youngest performer ever to score a win as Outstanding Younger Actress. Grimes was just 10 years old when she took home the statuette.
“Do you know what it felt like to have a mommy and daddy?” a tearful Cassie asks as Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) fight for custody. After Cassie has her say in court, the judge grants Sharon and Nick the custody they’re seeking.
