The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) will have to give birth at some point. Since Chloe’s expecting a baby with Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart), Y&R will need to move into the next phase of the story eventually.
The Young and the Restless can get by with holding off for a bit, they can’t very well have Chloe still pregnant at Christmas when she told Kevin she was pregnant the Christmas before!
This isn’t like other storylines that can be pushed back indefinitely or scrapped. Once Y&R’s back in production, they’ll have to deal with this baby issue one way or another.
Of course, all the new safety protocols on set are going to be a factor. Will poor Chloe have to give birth all alone somewhere? Will Y&R use camera angles and splice shots in to make it seem like someone’s close enough to deliver Chloe’s baby?
Soaps rarely have women give birth in a hospital anyway, so it should work out fine for Chloe to have a traumatic birth without a medical staff.
What happens after the birth of Chloe and Kevin’s little one? There are a few ways Y&R could take the storyline from there. If there are complications, Kevin and Chloe’s baby boy might have to stay in intensive care for a while.
It’d be too risky to film with babies under the circumstances, so that’d be an easy way to explain where Kevin and Chloe’s son is.
Then again, The Young and the Restless could take a lighter route and just have the kiddo in his crib most of the time. Dolls could be used as stand-ins in scenes where Kevin and Chloe hold their baby – which is a common tactic anyway. It’d be easy to include previously filmed shots of a sleeping infant, too.
What about Chloe and Kevin though? Distance between performers is a huge part of these guidelines – and new parents would normally be close. Could Chloe experience post-partum depression and push Kevin away? We won’t be able to see the typical happy family unit, so Y&R will have to figure out how to tackle the rest of this story.
