The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) deteriorating health will put increasing pressure on the Abbott family when new episodes start to be seen again. As viewers recall, Dina’s children moved her back to the mansion a number of months ago.
The collective decision involved a recognition that the memory care center couldn’t provide any better care than the family could during what is now seen as Dina’s final part of her life leading to her looming death.

Viewers were initially led to believe that Dina’s offspring consisted of her eldest, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), the middle child, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), and her youngest, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland). However, the reimagined past revealed that Dina had a second child with someone other than John Abbott (Jerry Douglas).
Ashley learned years ago that Brent Davis (Bert Kramer) was her biological father. Viewers discovered in 2019 that Dina’s other unknown child was the late Eric Vanderway (no actor was ever cast for this role), who she had with Stuart Brooks (Robert Colbert).

Jack, Ashley, and Traci have had a few years to come to terms with their mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. The choice to initially place her in the facility wasn’t fully agreed to at first, but came to be seen as what was best.
When last seen, the Abbott siblings were standing strong. Dina’s moments of clarity had decreased dramatically, with her seeming coming death being telegraphed by the storyline’s direction.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Everyone Affected Differently by Dina’s Death
Dina’s children share a deep history with her. Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) have known their grandmother their entire lives. But Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) just started to bond with the woman he met last year and later came to know was his biological father’s mother.
Jack has always been very emotional. He will be deeply affected by what happens to Dina. Possibly his older son, Keemo Abbott (Philip Moon), will return to Genoa City, Wisconsin, to be with his grandmother and to help comfort him.
Ashley has a complicated relationship with Dina, but has made peace with her in recent years. Abby helped her mother to do that and remains a positive link between both ladies.
Traci is a good-hearted soul, who handled the loss of her daughter with grace years ago. She’ll continue to focus on what’s best for everyone, rather than just her own feelings.
Maybe Kyle and Theo will reach out to each other and use what’s happening as a chance to build a real connection for the first time. Dina would want that.
