The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will be at a crossroads once he comes to grips with Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) AJ Montalvo revelation. Adam can make changes or continue down a troubling path. Of course, it may not matter much what Adam does – at least not to the rest of the Newmans!
Victor’s always going to have a soft spot for his son, even when Adam makes mistakes. The Young and the Restless fans know Victor hid the truth about AJ for many years. He had every opportunity to hurt Adam with that information. All those times Victor was furious with Adam, he never resorted to delivering this blow from his son’s childhood.
Unfortunately, the rest of the Newman clan may end up treating Adam like an outsider forever. Even if Adam makes improvements and turns his life around, will Adam’s family ever treat him differently?
It seems like Adam’s siblings always think the worst of him. The same goes for Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), who’s Adam’s stepmother and someone who’ll always be suspicious.
To be fair, Adam has proven that his family was right to worry. He’s been given multiple chances and never seems to learn a lesson that sticks. However, you could argue that the lack of support from his family shaped Adam’s bad decisions.
Adam’s mistakes often come because he’s got something to prove. He just wants a little respect, but he never gets any!
Of course, this is actually a pretty useful scenario in terms of drama. Having Adam at odds with the Newman clan provides a lot of opportunities for clashing.
Although it’d be nice for Adam to gain acceptance with his siblings and feel like a real Newman for once, that’d also eliminate Adam’s edge. It’d erase a huge part of who Adam is and take away some classic Y&R conflict.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) hate Adam’s guts. Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) is also wary of Adam, especially when he’s doing things to hurt Victor or their other siblings.
Nikki may never trust Adam either. It’s almost tough to imagine this crew truly coming around on the idea of a reformed Adam – even if it genuinely happens.
