The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the show has resumed production and is implementing all the appropriate safety protocols while filming new Y&R episodes. Since The Bold and the Beautiful got up and running again first, Y&R’s been watching B&B closely. It’s all about following their lead and making sure protection is the priority.
We should note that The Bold and the Beautiful rewrote some of their scenes so that kids wouldn’t have to be included. It’s too risky to bring children on set right now, so B&B’s working around that. It looks like they’ll mostly use previously aired footage or make excuses for why kids are out of the room.
The Young and the Restless could do the same with their kid characters, but is there a chance Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) could be sent away entirely? Unlike some of the other children on Y&R, Connor’s been a big part of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) storyline. His absence would be a bigger deal.
Connor’s behavioral issues have been a persistent problem, but a lot of that’s due to the trauma he’s endured. Even so, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) feels like Connor needs to toughen up. Once Adam accepts that he’s responsible for AJ Montalvo’s death, he may want Connor around him anymore. All of this might add up to an easy temporary exit strategy for Connor.
Could Connor be shipped off to boarding school on new Young and the Restless episodes? Connor’s been to camp before, so it’s not like he’d be totally out of his element. Other younger characters like Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) have done their own stints at boarding school, so it’s about time for another one to take a turn.
Under the circumstances, sending Connor off canvas seems reasonable. It’d be a tough choice for Adam and Chelsea, but Connor might benefit from becoming a bit more independent. Chelsea and Adam could pick a boarding school that suits Connor’s interests and perhaps has some sort of program to help with those behavioral issues we mentioned.
Since Victor thinks Adam and Chelsea coddle the kid, he’d be proud of Connor for growing up and tackling this new adventure on his own. Whatever the case, it sounds like Y&R will either have to make excuses for Connor’s absence or just send him off to boarding school. The latter would be the easiest option and would fit with the story Y&R’s been telling so far.
