The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Abby Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott) love life could use some bumps in the road. Things have been going well with Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz), who was smitten with Abby practically from the moment he hit town again. Abby was smitten right back, so this love story’s been a simple one aside from a few minor Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) snags.
Although Chance and Abby do have some chemistry, nothing much is going on. All Abby and Chance do is sleep together and deal with Phyllis issues. The Young and the Restless needs to land a real obstacle in their path – and one easy way to do that is to bring in a romantic interloper. If Y&R makes this a love triangle, suddenly things get a lot more interesting!
Of course, it’s easier to build a love triangle when it’s based on history. Abby probably wouldn’t be tempted by a new guy, but what if it was someone she’d felt sparks with before.
There are certainly going to be different opinions on who’s been Abby’s best love interest over the years, but Scott Grainger (Daniel Hall) deserves that title in some fans’ eyes. He’s at least near the top of the list!
Scott fell for Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), but he ended up cheating with Abby and was ultimately written out in 2018. It was a shame that Y&R wasted Scott and Abby’s chemistry by taking him off canvas.
It would’ve been so easy to let a new love story play out, but that wasn’t what The Young and the Restless writers had in mind at the time.
However, this seems like the perfect opportunity to revisit Scott and Abby’s romance. After all, there may be some restrictions on physical contact once Y&R finally resumes production. To be on the safe side, kissing and love scenes might be out for a while.
What on earth are Abby and Chance going to do?! Most of their airtime is spend in bed, in the shower or just making out anywhere they happen to be. It’d be a good idea to create some tension to kill the vibe.
If Scott shows back up in town to see his mom, Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman), he might decide to stick around. That could reignite some feelings and leave Abby torn.
Scott was a heroic character like Chance, but he was a bit more no-nonsense. It seemed like Scott was a little more mature in a way. Scott brings something different to the table, but he’s still Abby’s type and a great match for her.
If Abby had a huge fight with Chance over Newman loyalty or something alone those lines, that’d be the ideal time for Scott to head back to town. Would you like to see Daniel Hall return as Scott Grainger? Should Y&R make this a Chance, Abby and Scott love triangle?
