The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman (Hunter King) will keep trying to navigate their new chapter. Once new episodes return, Summer and Kyle may explore their relationship issues a bit more. Although their reunion has been a happy one, it’s easy to see that they have different mindsets about the pacing.
Kyle has been a hint pushy with Summer on certain things like moving in together, but Summer wants to take their time and do this right. Of course, Summer was also adamant about Kyle divorcing Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) first. That conversation brought some tough moments, but Kyle and Lola seemingly closed the door on their own chapter.
That frees Kyle up to focus on this new one with Summer and could make Summer more willing to speed things along. Y&R may have some extra social distancing measures and restrictions in place for a while after everyone gets back on set. However, there’ll eventually a point when actors can get back to all the usual kissing and group scenes.
Once The Young and the Restless gets the go-ahead on those crucial soap elements, they can start moving forward with some weddings. Kyle and Summer’s nuptials seem like a given unless Y&R writers throw something massive at them to tear “Skyle” apart.
Summer and Kyle are currently taking things slow and trying to do this right. That may be mostly Summer’s doing, but at least she’s helping Kyle slow his roll. Summer’s making sure they give themselves their best shot at a future together. That could prove to be a good tactic for this young duo.
There are certainly no guarantees on soaps, which rely on plenty of drama to carry love stories. Nevertheless, Kyle and Summer seem like a couple that the writers might want to stick with for a while. They destroyed “Kola” in a hurry to make this “Skyle” reunion happen, so they might as well fully invest and let Kyle get married again.
Will the third wedding be the charm for Kyle? The Young and the Restless fans will recall Kyle’s brief marriage to Summer, who did it in exchange for donating a portion of her liver to Lola. Kyle divorced Summer soon after and married Lola, but he later admitted it was Summer he wanted all along.
Since Y&R’s selling this story of “meant to be” lovebirds, maybe Kyle’s third wedding will indeed be the one that sticks – at least for a while. Summer and Kyle seem poised to have another ceremony down the road, so let’s hope that works out for them! Happiness doesn’t last forever on soaps, but maybe Kyle and Summer can enjoy a little time on married cloud nine.
