The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) doesn’t seem to know what she wants. As Y&R viewers know, Lola has been in a lot of angst lately, and a lot of it seems to be self-inflicted.
Lola went to great lengths to persuade Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) that she was fully on board with physical intimacy, and that she wasn’t rebounding or trying to make Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) jealous.
In fact, Lola really made a strong case for why she was ready to be intimate with Theo, and so Theo finally relaxed and the two of then ended up having a great evening together.
But then the very next day, Lola learned that Kyle and Summer Newman (Hunter King) were moving in together, and she completely freaked out. This was a little odd, given that Lola didn’t seem to be as bothered by Kyle spending the night with Summer just hours after asking Lola for a divorce.
But anyway, Lola seemed to have a mini breakdown when she heard about Kyle and Summer’s cohabitation plan, and she ended up having a terrible interaction with Theo afterwards.
Theo just wanted to check in with Lola and make sure she was doing well and feeling ok about their evening together, but Lola actively pushed Theo away rather than having an adult conversation with him.
It was reminiscent of the time when Kyle got Lola an expensive purse as a present, and Lola used it as an excuse to push Kyle away, rather than simply acknowledge and discuss the differences in their gift-giving strategies.
Lola turned it into a whole “you don’t get me” moment that left Kyle and viewers frustrated. Well, now it looks like Lola might be looking for excuses to push Theo away, and one wonders what’s going on here.
In the The Young and the Restless episode to air on Monday, September 7, Lola will again push Theo away – this time, after a communication mishap. Theo won’t appreciate that he and Lola have made a firm lunch date, and Lola will have what appears to be a serious overreaction to the matter, ultimately sending Theo away and refusing to talk with him about the situation – just a big brush off.
So, what’s going on with Lola? Does she truly not want her relationship with Theo to work out, and is she purposely making mountains out of molehills so that she can push him away? Does Lola have a personality disorder?
Lola seems to be pretty anxious/ambivalent when it comes to her relationship style, wanting to be with Theo, but also feeling the need to anxiously push him away to avoid true intimacy.
However, the thing with Theo is that when he’s pushed away, he tends to go. He separated from Summer REALLY easily and hasn’t seemed to miss her at all, and when he was fired from Jabot he got right back up on his feet. Theo’s disposition will probably lead him to walk rather than cling if Lola keeps pushing him away.
We’ll see what ultimately happens with Lola and Theo, but the way that Lola has been behaving lately doesn’t bode well for a long-term relationship with Theo. In fact, Lola may find that if she keeps pushing Theo away, he won’t come back!
