The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) is settling in Genoa City nicely and making a new home for herself. As Sally becomes a more established presence in town, it’s reasonable to assume Y&R might bring in a family member or two for her.
After all, Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) has her brother, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso), on canvas. We’ve also seen Arturo Rosales (Jason Canela), Mia Rosales (Noemi Gonzalez), Adrian Rosales (Jay Montalvo) and Celeste Rosales (Eva LaRue) at various points in time.
Even Theo Vanderway’s dead dad, Eric Vanderway (Jon Briddell) appeared in a vision to his son. The point is that new characters usually get a relative sooner or later. Sally is new to GC, so she deserves to see a familiar face, too.
One option is Sally’s sister, Coco Spectra (Courtney Grosbeck). Sally was overheard on the phone with her younger sister a couple times, so she’s definitely an option here. However, Coco was really just a sweet girl and nothing more during her run on The Bold and the Beautiful. There wasn’t a lot of personality going on.
Coco wouldn’t be bringing much drama with her if she came to Genoa City – and drama is almost always the goal! Instead, maybe Sally’s mother could show up. B&B fans know Sally was raised by her grandmother, Shirley Spectra (Patrika Darbo), so her mom wasn’t really in the picture.
During her time on The Bold and the Beautiful, Sally also mentioned her parents spending time behind bars. This seems like a soapy goldmine of opportunity! Perhaps Sally’s edgy estranged mother could come to Genoa City eventually and shake up her world. If so, we can think of someone who’d play the part perfectly.
There was previously a big fan push to bring Gina Tognoni on B&B to play Sally’s mother. It seems even more appropriate now that Sally has moved to The Young and the Restless, where Tognoni used to play Phyllis Summers (now played by Michelle Stafford).
It’s been long enough now that Tognoni could portray a new role and have a fresh start on the CBS soap. Tognoni and Hope look like they could actually be mother and daughter, so this would be the ideal casting. It seems like viewers would embrace having Tognoni around, even in a different part.
Just when all Sally’s scheming starts to pay off, maybe manipulative Mama Spectra could arrive to make some waves! Would you like to see Gina Tognoni back on Y&R in a new role? Could you imagine Tognoni playing Sally’s mother?
