Randall video chats with Kevin and Kate. He has found a clinical trial for their mom and he wants them to help talk her into it. The trial is in St. Louis. Kevin isn’t sure about this. Kate offers her support. Kevin finally agrees.
The Past – The family is headed on a family trip to New York. Jack asks them all what they want to do when they are there. On their way, the kids start to bicker.
Present Day – Kevin helps his mom out of the car in New York. He flew her first class and now she is staying in the plaza hotel.
The Past – The family rides the subway. Kate cannot believe all the people. Jack runs through the game plan for the day. Everyone has a stop planned. They run into a problem though when they get rerouted and learn they are headed to Queens.
The Past – The kids are teenagers. Rebecca takes Randall and his girlfriend to see Kevin read in a show. Rebecca meets Kevin’s teacher who seems to like her.
Present Day – Kevin tells Rebecca the dress she plans to wear is perfect. She asks is she can walk the red carpet with him. He tells her of course. Randall arrives. Rebecca heads to change. Kevin asks Randall to wait to talk to her in the morning. He agrees.
The Past – Jack tries to bring the kids and Rebecca through Queens but they are lost. Rebecca pulls him aside and explains which way to go. He is a bit embarrassed. He knows she used to come to NY with her father and family. Jack has no idea what he is doing as it is his first time in the city.
The Past – Rebecca, Kevin, Randall, and Beth are at a bar. Kevin’s teacher stops to say hello. Rebecca decides to want to go to The Met. She leaves. Randall asks Kevin if he is trying to set their mom up with his teacher. Randall isn’t happy.
Present Day – Rebecca walks the red carpet with, Kevin.
The Past – When they make their last stop for the kids, none of them want to walk anymore. Jack tells Rebecca to head to The Met and he will get them home.
The Past – Rebecca runs into Kevin’s teacher on the side of the city street as she tries to hail a cab. She asks if he noticed Kevin was trying to set them up. They get to talking. She mentions that maybe this is it for her and she will spend the rest of her life alone. She invites Kevin’s teacher to The Met. Back at the bar, Kevin and Randall fight about whether or not their mom should date.
Present Day – Rebecca has a moment at Kevin’s party where she forgets where she is staying. She is upset. Randall comforts her. He mentions the clinical trial. Her face drops.
The Past – Rebecca gets to The Met but they are closing. She heads back to the hotel and tells Jack and the kids. Jack has a plan.
Present Day – Kevin comes to see Rebecca and Randall talking. He knows Randall brought up to the trial. Rebecca heads out for air while they fight. They can’t find her outside.
The Past – Jack takes the family on a carriage ride. Rebecca is thrilled and the kids love it too.
The Present – Kevin and Randall find Rebecca at The Met. She talks about all of the times she said she would do something later. She is running out of time. She wants to be with her family. She doesn’t want to do the trial. Later, Randall is angry with Kevin. He could have saved their mom.
