TLC 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days spoilers tease that Lisa Hamme and Usman Umar have dealt with some pretty serious obstacles on their path to getting married. As viewers will remember, it took some real effort on Lisa and Usman’s part to get the blessing of Usman’s mom for their union. One goat, one prayer session, and several requests later, Usman finally got his mom’s blessing for the marriage.
But then, Lisa and Usman faced another stumbling block when Usman approached Lisa with some issues he had with her temperament. That led into an Usman-led lecture about how the man controls the marriage and tells the woman what to do.
It was a bad scene as Lisa got peeved and stormed off, flipping Usman off in the process. It looked for a moment like the marriage could be off for good.
But fortunately, Lisa and Usman patched things up and seemed to reach a compromise on the blending of their cultures. Lisa made a big point of pronouncing herself as an independent American woman, which she certainly is.
However, it seems that she left one important little detail up to Usman, and that was to find out in advance what sort of legal documents Lisa needed to bring with her in order for the couple to get married.
As it turns out, Lisa is divorced, and when she and Usman went to see the wedding officiant, the officiant told them that they needed Lisa’s divorce documents in order to get married. Actually, this is a pretty standard thing in many countries – obviously, to get married, Lisa needs to prove that her previous marriage is legally dissolved.
One wonders how and why Lisa didn’t know this, and why the very independent Lisa relied on Usman for such a critical detail. Now Lisa and Usman are three days out from wanting to get married, and they need Lisa’s divorce documents, which she seems not to have in any particular place for safekeeping.
But instead of taking on any of the responsibility for this oversight herself, Lisa immediately growled at Usman and blamed him for their predicament. Usman immediately realized that this was yet another obstacle for them to overcome, and he immediately put his head in his hands, while Lisa stewed angrily.
Well, recently, Usman posted a video of the clip from the episode where Lisa blows a gasket in the marriage registrar’s office, along with the following caption, which seemed to poke fun at the incident: “Dramatic but also systematic, I patiently move on with BGL hoping things be alright but the Married Registrar said we can’t get married…”
All that said, it looks like everything might work out ok in the end. On a recent Instagram Live session that included both Lisa and Usman, we caught Lisa seemingly almost calling Usman her husband. Lisa referred to him as “My…” and seemed to be on the verge of saying “husband” when she caught herself. So, we suspect that Usman and Lisa will ultimately be successful in tying the knot.
At any rate, it looks like this documentation issue could be the last thing holding up Lisa and Usman’s marriage. It seems like it should be a relatively quick fix, assuming Lisa can have someone back in the US locate her divorce documents for her.
