Loren and Alexei are in quarantine and waiting for their baby to arrive in a few weeks. Loren is going a little stir crazy since she has been inside for the last 3 weeks. She is also sad she is not spending Passover with her family.
For Alexei, this is all strange not being born here. They met when they were both on a trip to Israel. They were attracted to one another and decided they wanted to marry. It took a little for Alexei to get his visa. When he moved it was hard at first. He didn’t like that she went to a strip club for her bachelor party.
They talk about how their baby could get Tourette’s. Loren has it. But since time has passed, they feel there are worse things. Now they are just dealing with Loren’s hormones.
They are both sad their parents cannot be there for their child’s birth. Instead, they can only video chat. Tomorrow they go to the doctors to find out when their baby will come out. Loren has an incompetent cervix. She will have a c-section.
The next morning, Loren shares that she didn’t sleep well. She wonders if the doctor will keep her longer. She starts to freak out. They are going to be parents any day now. She takes a video of their quiet apartment before they leave.
At the doctor’s office, they listen to the heartbeat. She shares she has been having headaches. Her BP is high. She may need to have a c-section today.
They are both nervous now that they may have the baby today. They need to go to the hospital to find out. Loren may have preeclampsia.
After arriving at the hospital they learn they will have the baby today. Loren is taken to the OR. Alexei will be let in right after the baby is born. He waits for them to call him. He is nervous the whole time. He is finally called to come in.
Alexei is allowed to cut the cord as he meets his son. He gets video and leaves right after. Loren and their son are good. Loren feels good. Everything was surreal for her.
The next day, Loren feels swollen and tired. Her BP is still up. She has to stay in bed for 24 hours and she hasn’t seen their son. Alexei has seen him. It is tough for Loren.
After 24 hours, she is brought to see the baby. She holds him. She is sad she has to wear a mask.
They have now been in the hospital for 2 days. Loren needs to pump every three hours. They talk about when the baby gets circumcised. They decide they will do it at home with their rabbi.
It is time for them to go home. They are nervous to be without the hospital staff. A short time later they arrive home. After getting comfortable, they share duties.
It is the day of the baby’s Bris. Family arrives. They are all taking precedence with masks and hand washing. Alexei’s parents cannot physically come so they will video. The Rabbi arrives and they begin. Alexei is upset when the baby cries. They finish quickly and are all happy and thankful.
