Bash is supposed to be starting over in Canada. Unfortunately, he just couldn’t help himself. He was still getting in trouble and one of the things that could cost him everything is his friendship with Khaled. Khaled was living in Canada illegally. He didn’t have his papers because he wasn’t technically a refugee from a war-torn country and that meant the police were looking for him. They went to the hospital to question Bash about Khaled. He told them he didn’t know where Khaled could be hiding and that’s a lie. They still talk. They see each other in person and Bash has been known to give Khaled money.

Bash gifted Khaled some money just recently. He knows Khaled hasn’t been able to find another job and he also knows that Khaled has his pride. Therefore, Bash gifted the money for Eid. Eid is a traditional Islamic holiday. There was even an occasional exchange of gifts and so Bash gave Khaled the money he needs. His sister was with him when he did so. Amira questioned if there was more they could do for Khaled because if he needs money then he probably needs food as well and so Amira wanted to invite Khaled over to their place when they celebrated the holidays. Amira was used to doing things for the holidays because that’s how she had been raised by their parents.

Amira was also expecting for them to celebrate the holidays like they used to. Only things were different for them in Canada and Bash was working a lot. He had to work during Eid too. He was called to the hospital because he was still going through his residency and sadly for him, the first patient of the day was a suicidal woman. Lena Joseph stopped eating and drinking. She stopped trying to live and so she never wanted to brought to the hospital. It was her neighbor that brought her in. He went to go give her her mail when he saw lying on the floor and called for help. Lena was then rushed to the hospital.

Her symptoms were treated. It was only when she woke up that anyone realized what she was trying to do and rather than accept it – Bash tried to look for a reason why she would be suicidal. He later spoke with Lena’s daughter. Lena said her mother was healthy and that she wouldn’t try to harm herself. She later found out differently. She spoke with her mom and her mom said she planned on the cleaner finding her. She wanted to die and she hadn’t wanted anyone to stop her. This included her daughter. The mother and daughter had gone through a tough time with burying Mr. Joseph and so Lena had wanted to spare her daughter that.

Lena wanted to go out on her terms. Her daughter and Bash as well hadn’t wanted to believe her or her motives. They did cognitive tests. They also asked for a psychiatric evaluation because Bash wanted to prevent this woman from killing herself and ultimately he might not be able to stop her. Dr. Bishop saw what Bash was going through. He tried to advise him. He told him that if his patient wanted to die then maybe it was her time. He also warned Bash that he could pass on any case that went against his beliefs and Bash didn’t want to pass on Lena. He was still looking for ways to help her.

Bishop also gave that same advice to Dr. Theo Hunter. The good doctor was treating a teenager who took his father’s Viagra and his boner wouldn’t go away. The kid was so embarrassed. He didn’t even want his mom to be notified. He lives with his mom since his parents got a divorce and he knew his mother would blame his father for his current condition. His father barely visits him as it is. He didn’t want his mother pushing his father even further away and so the kid didn’t want any adults to be notified. He wanted Theo to treat it. Theo was caught between helping him and feeling guilty.

Theo was supposed to have gone home to visit his family. At the last minute, his wife told him not to come. She thought the kids would react badly with such a short visit and so Theo was feeling guilty. He knows he should be home more. He knows his kids need him and he suspects his patient needed his dad as well. Theo was told he could step away from this case for personal beliefs. He chose to stay on and he was still treating his patient as Bash was treating his. Bash found out he wasn’t going to get any help from the psych department. He next tried talking to Lena and he told her that her heart needed a reset.

Lena damaged her heart by cutting off fluids. She needed a reset or else she risked going into cardiac failure. Lena wanted her heart to fail. Her daughter however wanted her mother to live and so Bash found himself in an uncomfortable situation. He had to listen to the patient. He had to allow her to die. She signed a DNR and Bash didn’t get to disregard it because he didn’t like it. He also couldn’t put her on a psychiatric hold because he didn’t like it. He just had to accept the situation. He also talked to her daughter to help her accept it too. Bash buried his own parents and he knows what’s it like to not want to lose your parents.

Bash helped Lena’s daughter to accept her situation. The daughter and Bash were both with Lena as she began to fade away. And once it was done, Bash went to go see his sister Amira. She was doing her homework in the cafeteria and so Bash decided to celebrate Eid with her. He brought along his new friends. He invited Theo who managed to find lamb and who resolved his own. Theo got to celebrate Eid with them. Bash also invited Khaled and his friends around the neighborhood and so Amira got the big celebration she was familiar with.

And still, no one realizes June is dating the security guard at the hospital or that Mags has a heart condition.

THE END!
