Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Charlie's Dual Personalities Explained - Ava's Son Has Dissociative Identity Disorder?

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that something major is going on with Charlie Dale (Mike C. Manning). As viewers are aware, Charlie has serious issues with his mom, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun), that stem from his childhood. So far, that seems to be the going explanation for Charlie’s troubles and his bad behavior.

Since Charlie is now guilty of both the assault of Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) and the kidnapping and drugging of Ava, it’s clear that he has some seriously violent tendencies.

Charlies crimes have all the all the hallmarks of a cool and calculated criminal, and he seems to have little to no remorse for his crimes.

Yet, there is a softer and mild-mannered side to Charlie, too. When Charlie first came on the Salem scene as an intern at Titan Industries, he was very passive and basically got run over by Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) and Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson).

Charlie could have stood up to Xander (for example) on numerous occasions but didn’t.

Perhaps there’s a reason for Charlie’s dual persona…might he have a form of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)? Perhaps Charlie operates as one of two people – a mild-mannered nerdish guy, and a cool, calculated criminal.

Perhaps the calculated criminal comes out in times of stress, which would explain why Charlie behaved as he did to his mother, kidnapping and drugging her.

Of course, if the show does go in the direction of Charlie having multiple personalities, then it would potentially be a vehicle to redemption for the character, if Charlie will be staying around Salem for the long-term.

Charlie could be treated, and his personalities could be integrated, similar to how Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) personalities were integrated.

We’ll see what ends up happening, but we suspect that there will be some attempt to redeem Charlie, and a major psychological disorder would be one way to do that.

Of course, whether viewers would accept that for a character accused of rape of a beloved character remains to be seen. But it’s certainly one way that TPTB could take the story.
