Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) will likely dump Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) over her Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) betrayal, so their romantic reunion seems poised to end in heartbreak.
DOOL put out a summer preview that features Eric’s return, which is good news and bad news. It’s great that we’ll get to see Eric again after all these months, but we have to be realistic about why he’s coming.
Nicole can’t stay in romantic limbo forever, so it seems likely Days is bringing Eric back for a breakup!
On the bright side, “Ericole” fans will still get some lovey-dovey scenes before it all goes horribly wrong. Nicole will be ecstatic when Eric comes home and surprises her.
It looks like Eric will decide he was wrong to make Nicole keep waiting on him. Eric made a commitment to love and cherish Nicole as her husband, so he’ll want to honor that.
Of course, Eric will probably be quite sweet and apologetic. It’s only going to add to Nicole’s growing guilt over what she’s done. Nicole will feel like cheating on her husband is the worst thing she’s ever done. Part of Nicole will want to confess, but will she actually do it?
There’s a portion of the summer promo where Nicole and Eric are in bed after lovemaking.
Eric will notice that something’s up, so he’ll encourage Nicole to tell him what’s wrong. However, Nicole may brush it off as nothing and hope she can keep her secret buried.
It’s bad enough that Nicole betrayed Eric, but she did it with the man Eric despises most in this world! Eric may not be able to get past what Nicole did anytime soon.
That’s especially true if Nicole ends up letting Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) expose this instead of just confessing herself.
Nicole and Eric have gotten past huge obstacles before – like Eric driving drunk and killing Nicole’s fiancé, Daniel Jonas (Shawn Christian).
If Nicole can forgive Eric for the death of her former flame and the father of her child, Eric could forgive Nicole eventually.
Nevertheless, what Eric’s going to need is time and space – just like Nicole did. Eric will probably want to head back to the villagers in the Congo to think about their blown-apart marriage. He may want a separation that will ultimately become a divorce.
Nicole needs to be able to mix it up romantically with other guys in Salem, so it makes sense that this will be how Days writers accomplish that.
If Greg Vaughan wants to make a full-time return down the road, there’ll certainly be a chance for Eric and Nicole to reunite again.
