Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, July 16, reveals that Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) got out on bail and began Nicole Brady’s (Arianne Zucker) public cheating exposure. Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) had a front-row seat for the destruction she was creating, so here’s how it all went down on Friday’s DOOL episode.
At DiMera Enterprises, Belle Brady (Martha Madison) greeted EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and surprised him with a hug.
EJ didn’t expect such a warm welcome home, but Belle was happy to know EJ and Sami were doing well since they’d been through so much together.
EJ insisted that Sami truly was an angel and praised her for standing by him despite his harsh treatment of her before. EJ was also glad that Belle had agreed to do some legal work for DiMera.
Belle discussed EJ’s sibling rivalry with Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) and understood since she had one of her own with Sami.
EJ was confused when Belle brought up the party, so she explained that Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) was home and having an anniversary bash with Nicole.
Belle was perplexed since Sami hadn’t filled EJ in yet, but he assumed Sami had just gotten caught up in something.
At the Salem PD on Friday’s Days episode, Sami barged in the interrogation room and ranted about Xander getting himself arrested.
Xander admitted he’d assaulted a police officer, but he pointed out he could still make the confession tape Sami wanted.
Sami said that wasn’t good enough and revealed that there’d been a change of plans. She insisted that Xander was going to blow Eric and Nicole’s marriage out of the water live instead.
Xander reminded Sami that he was handcuffed to the desk, so she found a lawyer at the courthouse and came back to explain that he’d made bail.
Sami took it out of the money she promised, but assured Xander he’d get it back as long as he did what he was supposed to. She wanted Xander to show up half an hour late and blow Nicole’s marriage to smithereens.
Sami was eager for everyone to know that while Eric was off helping people around the world, Nicole was there sleeping with Xander.
“Happy freaking anniversary,” Sami said with a smirk. She grew concerned when Xander suddenly became unsure about doing this.
Xander knew everyone would despise him more than they already do – plus, he would get fired from Basic Black.
Sami argued that she’d make sure the truth came out no matter what, which meant Xander would get fired no matter what, too. She felt like Xander might as well just take the money.
Sami eventually got a call from EJ, who asked if she cared to tell him “what the hell” was going on. She soon realized this was about the party and pretended she was home looking for something to wear in her closet.
After Sami promised to meet EJ at the party, she turned her attention back to Xander. Sami vowed to give Xander half the money now and half when he finished the job.
Xander threatened to call the whole thing off unless he got all of it right now, so Sami caved and trusted that he’d do what he was told.
At home on Friday’s Days episode, Eric admitted to Nicole that he had to go back to Africa and finish his three-month extension.
However, Eric insisted it was only for a few weeks and then he’d be back for good.
Eric wanted to focus on being a good husband and father, but Nicole confessed she sometimes felt she didn’t deserve Eric.
Eric argued that Nicole was perfect as far as he was concerned. He felt they’d waited to have this marriage and family their whole lives, so he was eager to make his permanent return to Salem.
Eric felt they belonged together always. After Eric and Nicole got dressed, he twirled her around in the living room and led her off to the pub.
In Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) office, she was stunned when John Black (Drake Hogestyn) revealed that Eric was back in town and planning an anniversary shindig.
Marlena couldn’t wait to see her son again and looked forward to attending the event with John.
At the Brady Pub, Philip suggested that Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) could get Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) to deliver the letter to EJ.
Lucas didn’t even know where Kristen was and nixed Philip’s next suggestion of just putting it in the mailbox.
Lucas had to make sure someone put the letter in EJ’s hands directly – someone who didn’t mind sticking it to that jerk.
Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) overheard and wondered what jerk they were talking about, so Philip lied that they needed to teach Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) a lesson for what he did to Kate Roberts DiMera (Lauren Koslow).
After EJ arrived, he clashed with Philip briefly before pulling Lucas aside. EJ noted that Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) was doing well now, so there was no need for Lucas to call or stop by the house.
In fact, EJ didn’t think Lucas should have anything to do with Sami at all.
EJ thought this was about respect, but Lucas fired back that EJ treated Sami like garbage for years. Lucas didn’t think EJ had the right to lecture him about respect at all.
EJ countered that Sami was living a very full life with him, so Lucas needed to get a life of his own. He remembered Lucas wanting to give him a smoking gun earlier, so he thought Lucas could give it to him now.
However, Sami’s arrival saved Lucas from answering. After Lucas walked off in disgust, EJ filled Sami in on her ex wanting to give him something earlier. EJ guessed it wasn’t all that important.
At Basic Black, Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) reminded Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) that she was with Philip and couldn’t go as his date to the party.
Brady insisted that he was going as Eric’s brother and Chloe was going as Nicole’s friend. He saw no reason why they couldn’t walk through the same door together, so Chloe was OK with that.
“It’s a date,” Brady said. “Kidding! Let’s go buddy.” After Chloe and Brady made it to the gathering, Philip quickly bickered with Brady.
Although Philip wanted to stay for the bash, Brady pointed out that it wasn’t some big blowout where any loser could come in off the street. This was an event for family and close friends.
Philip insisted he was family since Nicole used to be his stepmother. He assured Brady that he wouldn’t be uncomfortable despite not knowing the happy couple very well – not with Chloe there by Philip’s side.
Brady and Philip continued arguing throughout the rest of the party, but Chloe mostly focused on expressing her happiness for Nicole.
There was tension between Nicole and Sami when the latter approached with EJ by her side, but Nicole was determined not to let anything get her down.
Eric was glad to see EJ had recovered with Sami’s help. Eric added that Sami always found a way to get what she wanted and winked at his sister.
Sami kept checking her watch and looking at the door, so EJ asked if she was expecting someone.
After Sami denied it and some toasts were made, Nicole and Eric said a few heartfelt words to their guests.
Eric took responsibility for the difficult separation they’d endured due to his time in the Congo, but he knew he never wanted to live without Nicole.
Eric asked his guests to toast to the most loving, beautiful and understanding wife in the world.
Suddenly, Xander waltzed in as a party crasher.
Xander wondered if Eric would feel the same way if he knew that while he was off sweating in Africa, Nicole was screwing around behind his back! Sami feigned shock before grinning into her Champagne glass.
