Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, November 12, reveals that Eileen Davidson returned as Kristen DiMera tempted John Black (Drake Hogestyn) to betray Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) in the worst way possible. Let’s talk about how Friday’s shocking DOOL drama went down.
At the Horton house, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) ranted about all Gwen Rizczech’s (Emily O’Brien) lies and just didn’t think forgiveness was an option anymore.
Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) wondered if that meant Gwen was dead to Jack, but Jack insisted Gwen would always be in his heart.
It’s just that Jack couldn’t forgive Gwen – and he didn’t think he could forgive Xander either. Jack grumbled about Xander covering for Gwen and thought his “best mate” hadn’t been much of a friend.
Xander admitted he probably could’ve been a better one, but he still felt like he was looking out for Jack and his daughter.
Jack asked why Xander went to all this trouble for Gwen, so Xander thought for a moment and confessed that he loved her.
“Well, then. God help you both,” Jack said. He thought it was time for Xander to go, but Xander offered one last reminder. Xander pointed out that Jack had gotten thousands of second chances from his own family.
If Jack was so judgmental that he couldn’t give Gwen one, then Xander thought perhaps she was better off without him.
At the police station on Friday’s Days episode, Gwen sat down in front of DA Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) in the interrogation room. She insisted she was going to come clean to Jack and hoped Trask would be willing to give Xander his money back.
DA Trask argued she had no real incentive to do so and eventually admitted Xander already texted her with a similar appeal.
Trask knew Gwen’s secret had been exposed, so she called her out on the lie about telling Jack the truth later.
Gwen thought Trask was an awful person, but Trask fired back that Gwen was a “miserable piece of trash” and hoped Jack kicked her “lying ass” to the curb.
After Gwen decided to try a nicer approach, she declared that Xander meant everything to her.
Gwen said Xander was all she had left and fought desperately to do this one thing for him, but Trask refused to return the $1 million.
Unbeknownst to Gwen, Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) eavesdropped outside the interrogation room and realized just how much Gwen cared about Xander.
On Trask’s way out, she warned Kristen that Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) denied her request for a visit. Trask gleefully pointed out that Brady wasn’t coming to Kristen’s rescue.
The guard assumed Gwen was Kristen’s lawyer, so that gave them a chance to chat in the interrogation room.
Gwen recognized Kristen, who wanted to talk about her future. When Gwen suggested Kristen didn’t have much of one, Kristen disagreed and insisted she wasn’t going back to Statesville. “You’re going to bust me out of here,” Kristen said.
At the DiMera mansion on Friday’s Days episode, Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) hated that she’d cost Jack his relationship with his other daughter.
That said, Abigail did feel like a weight had been lifted off her – and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) agreed he could see the change in Abigail’s eyes.
Abigail and Chad were both hopeful about being on the right track now. Since Gwen’s lies had been exposed, Abigail thought that’d make it even easier to move forward. As Chad and Abigail prepared to make love, Abigail thanked Chad for never giving up on her.
At the pub, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) got off the phone with Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy) and confirmed to Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) that there was no mix-up.
Steve thought maybe John had taken an ISA case instead of one for Black Patch, but Shane shut down that idea.
Steve eventually admitted he didn’t think there was a case at all. He talked to Kayla about the recording John heard that had only static where Doug Williams’ (Bill Hayes) voice should be.
Steve wondered who else might’ve been in the room and why John would’ve bailed on Marlena when she was so scared.
Since Kayla refused to let Steve listen to that recording, Steve guessed his only lead was to figure out where John went after he left St. Luke’s that night. The only person who would know that was Marlena.
In the DiMera crypt, Marlena brought a cat carrier in and let Susan out of it. Susan rubbed up against John’s leg as Marlena explained she thought John might like to reunite with a friend.
John was confused until Marlena turned Susan back into a human.
After Susan knelt down to pray, she pushed Marlena to fight. John also started shouting at Marlena to fight the devil’s control – and moments later, the devil left Marlena’s body.
Marlena collapsed before waking up and insisting she was going to get John out of there. She thought everything was going to be all right, but possessed Susan got up and snarled that she wouldn’t count on it!
The devil argued that Susan’s access to the spirit world had given him easy access to her soul.
Possessed Susan decided that keeping John alive might’ve been a mistake. She thought she might have to do something about that, but Marlena yelled not to hurt John.
Susan flung Marlena against the wall to knock her out and then determined that maybe killing John wasn’t the answer after all.
Susan pointed out that humans had such fragile emotions and were so susceptible to things like passion, jealousy and insecurity.
John wondered what Susan was talking about, so she explained that she meant betraying his beloved “Doc” in the worst possible way.
Possessed Susan suggested that breaking his wedding vows was a surefire way to destroy John and Marlena’s love.
John protested that he’d never betray Marlena for another woman, especially not Susan Banks! Susan’s appearance then morphed into Eileen Davidson’s version of Kristen DiMera.
