Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, October 1, reveals that Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) attacked Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) while Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) quizzed med student Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) for advice. Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) also tricked Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) to prove a point, so here’s how it all played out on Friday’s DOOL episode.
At home, Ben and Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal) were home from their honeymoon. After flirting and hints about making love, Ciara decided she wanted some cheeseburgers first and went out to the bar with Ben.
In the town square, Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) teased Tripp and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) about getting a room and broke up their kiss. Allie suggested they all go to happy hour and laughed with Chanel about the hot bartender in Paris who used to make a special signature drink.
Chanel decided to pass since she wanted to turn in early, but she looked a bit down in the dumps as Allie and Tripp prepared to leave. At the bar on Friday’s Days episode, Tripp and Allie were at a table when they saw Ben and Ciara come in. Allie invited Ciara and Ben to join them, so Ben headed off with Tripp to grab a couple more drinks.
That left Allie alone with Ciara, who gushed about how wonderful her honeymoon was – until she blurted out she wanted to have a baby. Allie realized the suggestion didn’t go over well and assumed Ben just wanted Ciara to himself for a while. Ciara admitted that was true, but she insisted there was more.
Allie found out about Ben’s fear of passing down bad genes and dismissed the idea. She pointed out that Charlie Dale (Mike Manning) was a rapist, but she didn’t think Henry Horton (Jayna and Kinsley) would turn out like his father. Ciara agreed and didn’t think Ben would pass down bad genes either, but she was afraid she might never convince Ben.
Allie suggested adoption, but Ciara didn’t think they’d find an agency that would go for it due to Ben’s violent history. However, Allie suggested going through a lawyer and offered ideas on how they could still make it happen. Ciara said she’d love the baby whether it was biologically theirs or not, but it broke her heart that Ben thought he was cursed somehow.
As for Ben, he privately asked for Tripp’s opinion as a med student. Ben shared his fears about passing down homicidal tendencies, so Tripp explained that Ben’s child could have a predisposition toward psychosis. It was possible that Ben’s son or daughter could inherit mental illness, but there was no way to predict.
Tripp wished he could tell Ben something to make him feel better, but that was all he could offer. Ciara eventually walked over and wondered what they were talking about, so Ben and Tripp shared a cover story – one that Ciara called Ben out on at home later.
Ben admitted he was asking for Tripp’s medical opinion about whether he could pass down his “psycho genes.” Ciara thought Ben should talk to Marlena since they had a great relationship and she always knew what to do when it came to helping people.
At the DiMera mansion, Chad walked in the living room and learned Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) was trying to convince Abigail to be his grandmother. Johnny explained the new possession angle of the film and how he wanted Abigail to play Marlena. He also left a copy of the script behind so Abigail could give it some thought.
Once Johnny was gone, Chad realized Abigail was seriously considering the idea of taking the role. He suggested Abigail wasn’t an actress and didn’t get why she was so interested. Abigail thought it’d help her get out of her head a bit. Plus, Abigail wanted to get over a bad experience she had in her second-grade play.
Abigail talked about how she kept forgetting her lines and added that her teacher recast her in front of the whole class. She got emotional over having to tell her excited family, especially her disappointed mom.
Chad was so sorry since he didn’t realize Abigail actually went through something like that, but Abigail laughed since she made up the entire story to prove she could act. Meanwhile, Johnny wooed Chanel with his guitar and a song in the town square.
In Doug Williams’ (Bill Hayes) hospital room, he begged John Black (Drake Hogestyn) to believe that Marlena tried to kill him. Doug kept repeating that Marlena wanted him dead and that she’d try again if John didn’t help him. John filled Julie’s in on Doug’s latest setback, so she comforted him as best as she could by his bedside.
In Marlena’s office, she listened to the devil through the tape recorder on her desk. Marlena faced pressure to let the devil back in since he’d been cast out through John’s prayer and reduced to being an outsider looking in. The devil also felt Doug had to be handled, but Marlena refused to let him hurt Doug.
After the devil suggested there might be another way to get Doug out of the picture, he pointed out Marlena would have to back him up. Marlena was then presented with a choice. “Is it him or me?” the devil asked on the tape recorder.
Later, Marlena’s eyes were glowing as she sat in Doug’s hospital room. When Julie got up to pour Doug a glass of water, Marlena grabbed a nearby tray and bashed her in the head with it. Julie was unconscious on the floor in the aftermath of the attack.
Back with John on Friday’s Days episode, he entered Marlena’s office and wondered where she’d gone. John picked up the tape recorder and let out a sigh.
