Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Friday, September 17 Recap – Devil Doug Comes for Marlena – EJ Embarrasses Chad with Abigail

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, September 17, reveals that devil Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) came for Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) – and EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel) provoked Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) with a revelation to Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller).

In Johnny DiMera’s (Carson Boatman) room at the DiMera mansion, EJ insisted it was “Take Your Son to Work Day.” Johnny thought it seemed more like Groundhog Day because they kept repeating the same conversation over and over.

Johnny made it clear that he wouldn’t be working at DiMera Enterprises and would make his movie instead.

Johnny pointed out that if EJ had a problem with him doing the Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) story, he could always write his dad out.

Since Johnny didn’t view his father as vital to the story, EJ complained since he was the love of Sami’s life.

Johnny thought that was Lucas Horton (Chandler Massey) instead and kept pushing EJ’s buttons. EJ urged “John Roman” to watch himself since he could regret going too far.

Meanwhile, Abigail had a flashback of Gwen Rizczech’s (Emily O’Brien) staircase tumble before sitting down and checking out some welcome home cards from the kids.

Chad was taken aback when Abigail wanted to sleep in separate bedrooms for now – just like before she left for Boston.

Chad assured Abigail she could have whatever she needed, but he hinted about what some people might have to say.

Suddenly, EJ appeared and suggested it was such a lovely surprise to see Abigail. He was glad Chad took his advice to go off and fight for his wife, so that news caught Abigail off guard.

Chad got riled up at EJ for blabbing and suggested it wasn’t like that, but EJ argued that the important thing was that Abigail was home.

After EJ brought up the separate beds thing since he had overheard, Chad insisted it was none of his brother’s business.

EJ tried to drag Abigail into their feud over Johnny as well, but she wanted no part of it and agreed it wasn’t EJ’s business if they slept apart.

At the pub on Friday’s DOOL episode, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) got some powdered sugar off Roman Brady’s (Josh Taylor) mouth following his doughnut.

Roman reflected on some past memories and talked about the way Kate filled out a sarong, so Lucas called his mom out on all the flirting once he was alone with her.

Johnny eventually came in and got Roman’s blessing on the Sami Brady story movie.

Roman didn’t mind that Marlena and John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) affair would be part of it since that was ancient history. He just wanted someone handsome like George Clooney to play him in the film.

Roman seemed interested in investing – and Lucas was eager to invest as well once he found out he’d be the love of Sami’s life in the flick. Once Johnny left, Lucas resumed his conversation with Kate and urged her to give Roman another chance.

Roman caught them talking and ultimately found out Lucas had been offering advice. When Kate said Lucas was trying to get them back together, Roman wondered how Kate felt about that.

At the Horton house, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) showed Doug some old photo albums and made sure he remembered everyone.

Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) later stopped by with Doug’s MRI results, which had indicated no red flags.

Although Kayla suggested a pet scan might help them learn more, she thought it was a good idea to have Doug speak with Marlena.

Kayla pointed out that Marlena would be in a better position to more generally assess if Doug had dementia.

At the townhouse, John was concerned about Johnny’s movie dredging up the past for the whole world to see.

John pointed out that Sami witnessing their affair changed her life forever and led to the darkest time of Marlena’s own life. What happened next wasn’t something that John thought Johnny should be messing with.

Kayla’s phone call interrupted, so Marlena tabled her conversation with John and headed to the hospital to evaluate Doug.

After Marlena was gone, Johnny showed up and learned John had some concerns about the script. He wanted to finish his conversation with Marlena before they made a firm decision on investing, so Johnny assured John that was fine.

Johnny still had to finish reading the script anyway, but he figured he knew all the major plot points since he knew Sami’s history.

In the town square later, Johnny uncovered a shocking revelation in the script. “What the hell? Grandma Marlena was possessed by the devil?!” Johnny exclaimed.

Back with John on Friday’s Days episode, he looked through a box of grim mementos that included his old Bible, his priest collar and a newspaper article about Marlena’s possession.

In Marlena’s office, Doug admitted he thought something was wrong with him.

Marlena got Doug’s approval to record their session and asked him about some of the latest accidents – including locking Julie in the freezer.

“That was no accident! I locked that bitch in there on purpose!” Doug exclaimed on Friday’s Days episode. He told Marlena it was the most fun he had all week.

Marlena thought Doug was confused, but he thought she was the one who was confused instead. He said he wasn’t Doug, but Marlena insisted he was and said her name was Marlena.

Doug said of course he knew who Marlena was. “It’s been over 25 years, Marlena…did you really think I wouldn’t come back for you?” Doug said as his voice changed to a sinister tone.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say there are more possession shockers to come, so stay tuned.
