Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Charlie Dale’s (Mike Manning) murder is coming up – and that means Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) will have quite a mystery to solve. The same goes for DOOL fans who want to know who’s behind the whodunit.
There’ll be plenty of suspects – and Days is already lining up a few of them. Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun), Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker), Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) have all delivered some fierce warnings to Charlie.
Claire Brady (Isabel Durant), Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) and John Black (Drake Hogestyn) should all fall under suspicion as well. Even people like Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold), Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams), Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) could get the finger pointed at them.
However, it’s John who may end up rising to the top of the suspect list. John will pull a vanishing act just before Charlie gets killed, so that’ll be a major red flag. John might even make a bogus confession if he fears someone like Sami or Claire has done the deed.
There’d be a motive for John to lie if he wants to protect his stepdaughter or granddaughter.
Whatever the case, John obviously isn’t going to prison for Charlie’s murder. What Days needs is a shocking culprit – one that can be hauled off to prison without it affecting the canvas too much. They also need someone who wouldn’t mind letting John or anyone else take the fall.
Now let’s consider a storyline that Days of Our Lives left dangling. Jan Spears (Heather Lindell) fell into another coma after John nearly strangled her to death. We should also remember how Jan befriended and manipulated Claire when she was in town.
Jan played matchmaker after Claire and Charlie hit a rough patch, so she’s technically the reason her “BFF” wound up dating Charlie. If Jan hadn’t helped Claire fix things after that kiss with Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson), then Claire and Charlie might’ve gone their separate ways early on.
Although Jan was using Claire as a tool in her scheme, she did seem to care about Claire in her own twisted way. There was still some form of a friendship between them until Shawn and Belle Black’s (Martha Madison) wedding drama played out.
Days has the prime opportunity to deliver a shocking culprit that still makes sense and won’t provide a drastic change to the canvas. What if Jan secretly wakes up from her coma and sneaks out of whatever facility she’s in to kill Charlie?
Jan would be seeking revenge for her old bestie – and she’d love the idea of John doing down for it! It’d mean Jan could get revenge on John, too. Of course, Jan wouldn’t mind if the cops shift their focus to someone else either.
Jan is a wild, unpredictable woman who isn’t afraid to carry out deadly plots, so she’d be easy to buy as the murderer.
Jan is also a character that DOOL Head Writer Ron Carlivati clearly loves writing for. Since Jan was left comatose again instead of being killed off, we haven’t seen the last of her. It’d be a great twist if Jan’s revealed as Charlie’s killer in the end, but we’ll just have to see how it plays out!
