Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, August 16, indicates that Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) revealed Lani Price (Sal Stowers) was her daughter while Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) got arrested. Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) also gave Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) his engagement ring back, so here’s how it all played out on Monday’s show.
At the pub, Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) informed Lani and Abe Carver (James Reynolds) that a limo with the right plates had been found outside the cabin.
Abe pointed out that was thanks to Paulina, who saved the police department valuable time.
Lani argued that Paulina was just trying to buy their forgiveness and that otherwise she wouldn’t have lifted a finger to help.
However, Abe suggested that maybe Paulina was trying to make up for her past mistakes.
At the cabin on Monday’s Days episode, Ciara urged Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) to put the gun down and started trying to explain. Theo put Ben on full blast for kidnapping Ciara on her wedding day and insisted Ciara didn’t remember him.
Ciara admitted that was the cabin where she first got to know Ben and that being there again brought her memory back. She stepped outside with Theo and apologized since she felt like she used him.
Theo didn’t see it that way and said he liked taking care of Ciara, especially since Ben was acting so crazy.
Ciara defended her husband and clarified that she recalled how much she loved Ben now. She mentioned the fortune cookie triggering everything and hated that she was hurting Theo.
Theo knew Ciara didn’t love him in the same way she loved Ben, but he couldn’t imagine loving anyone except her.
After Ciara gave the engagement ring back and tried to suggest Theo would move on someday, she hoped she could at least give Theo a hug.
Theo gave Ciara the same “maybe someday” response and said to tell Shawn he’d be in the car.
Meanwhile, Shawn scolded Ben for the kidnapping and pointed out that Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) was in jail along with Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold).
Although Shawn believed Ben belonged with Ciara, he hated that a good guy like Theo had to get ripped to shreds in the process.
Afterward on Monday’s Days episode, Ciara explained that Theo was in the car and confirmed Shawn’s assumption that she wouldn’t be pressing charges.
Shawn said the charges would be dropped for Allie and Claire as well. He let Ciara and Ben know he was happy for them before he took off.
Ciara felt guilty for Theo’s heartbreak, but Ben assured Ciara that she didn’t mean to hurt him. After Ben and Ciara made love, they agreed what they had was forever.
Back with Lani, she got updates on everything that had gone down at the cabin and worried about Theo. Lani hoped the twins would never have to go through anything like that.
When Eli mentioned reading a Madeline book to Jules Grant and Carver Grant, it led to Lani confessing her failed Paris trip memory.
Lani talked about finding out her favorite aunt wasn’t who she pretended to be, though she couldn’t really ever figure out who Paulina was underneath the act.
At Paulina’s apartment, she wondered “what the hell” Olivia Price (Marla Gibbs) was doing there. Olivia reprimanded Paulina for disrespecting her mama and pushed Paulina to invite her in.
Olivia noted that Paulina had made a promise to Tamara Price (Marilyn McCoo) a long time ago – a promise that had been broken now. She was there to make sure Paulina didn’t break any more.
Paulina alluded to something that happened to her not being fair and thought they should put everything on the table. She wished she’d never made the promise to stay away from Lani.
“We both know Lani isn’t really Tammy’s daughter; she’s mine,” Paulina said on Monday’s DOOL episode.
As for Theo, he teared up as he confided in Abe. Theo suggested it was his own fault that he was hurting right now, but Abe assured his son that his heart would heal eventually.
Abe also felt that Theo would find true love someday and should lean on his family in the meantime.
At the Horton house, Xander lied that he was Dr. Clay Snyder’s (Michael Lowry) partner and was behind drug distribution. He claimed that Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) didn’t know she was delivering anything illegal since he told her it was just documents.
Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) was furious over Xander taking advantage of Gwen when she was still suffering from the loss of her baby. He threw his former friend out of the house and insisted that Xander disgusted him.
After Jack left the room, Gwen asked if Xander had gone mad! She didn’t understand why Xander covered for her, but he argued that it was better for him to lose a friend than for Gwen to lose a father.
When Jack returned, Xander apologized and thought Gwen was very lucky to have a father like him.
Once Xander was gone, Gwen flashed back to kissing Xander passionately and looked deep in thought. She defended Xander for getting mixed up with Dr. Snyder because she knew all about desperation.
Nevertheless, Jack said he couldn’t forgive Xander for risking Gwen’s life to make money.
Gwen was hopeful that this whole sordid business was over, but Jack hinted that actions have consequences.
In the town square, Shawn stopped Xander as he made his way to the Salem Inn. He told Xander to put his bag down and put his hands behind his back since he was placing Xander under arrest.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Xander and Gwen’s budding romance is about to get even more complicated, so stay tuned to DOOL.
