Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, May 17, reveals that Kate Roberts DiMera (Lauren Koslow) was placed in an induced coma after a traumatic brain injury while Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) went on a missing wedding ring search.
There was a lot going on in Monday’s action-packed DOOL episode, so let’s talk about all the details!
At home, Chanel Dupree (Precious Way) told Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) about running into someone from her past and having a blast catching up. Chanel admitted things got awkward after they kissed, so Lani started asking questions about this guy and what happened.
That led to Chanel explaining that the kiss was with a girl, which caught Lani off guard.
Chanel confessed that she liked to keep her private life private, so Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) didn’t know she liked girls as well as guys. However, Chanel didn’t think Paulina would have a problem with it.
Since Lani had such a surprised reaction, Chanel wondered if Lani might disapprove. Lani assured Chanel that she had no issues with who Chanel was or who she chose to date.
Chanel wasn’t the type to give up easily according to Lani, so she suspected Chanel was still hoping something would happen with this girl. After Chanel denied it, she insisted she got the message loud and clear who her friend wanted when she saw him making out with a guy.
Chanel didn’t want to lose a friend, so Lani encouraged her to smooth things over now since there was no type like the present.
At Nicole’s place, Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) came home and was relieved to see Nicole since she’d been out all night. Nicole filled Allie in on Eric Brady’s (Greg Vaughan) three-month trip extension and how she got plastered.
Nicole claimed she didn’t want Allie and the kids to see her like that, so she booked a hotel room and slept it off there.
Allie was sorry to hear about Eric bailing on Nicole again and hated to think of Nicole in a hotel room all alone after that terrible news. Nicole pivoted the conversation to what was going on in Allie’s life, so she mentioned running into Chanel and getting a surprise kiss.
Allie admitted she struggled in the aftermath since she wanted to let Chanel know she was cool with it without leading her on.
Allie also explained how Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) witnessed the kiss and told Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) the whole story, which brought Claire and Tripp over to the bar for a confrontation.
Nicole found out about Tripp and Claire’s previous run-in with Chanel, so Allie felt like the whole thing was a big mess.
Allie later mentioned how Tripp kissed her after she cornered him to explain, so Nicole teased her by asking just how many people she kissed last night. “Definitely more than you,” Allie said – but she quickly apologized for the insensitive joke.
Nicole was uneasy since she secretly hooked up with Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer), but she noted that Allie indeed kissed more people than her last night.
Allie talked about how Tripp hadn’t been in touch since their kiss, and she didn’t want to seem desperate by texting him. Allie also wondered if she was crazy for thinking they could even be together after everything that had happened, but Nicole advised her to take it one day at a time and avoid analyzing stuff too much.
As Nicole placed her hand on Allie’s, she realized her wedding ring was missing and decided it must be at the Salem Inn. Nicole turned down Allie’s offer to go with her and beat herself up for doing something so stupid.
At the hospital on Monday’s Days episode, Tripp brought Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) up to speed on his kiss with Allie – and later, Tripp surprised Allie by showing up at Nicole’s apartment with a bouquet of flowers.
At the DiMera mansion, Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) fought to resuscitate Kate following Kristen’s attack – and Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) called Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) for help. Kate was rushed to the hospital, where she was placed in an induced coma while the swelling in her brain went down.
Kayla told Jake, Gabi, Rafe and Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) about Kate’s traumatic brain injury, so Jake realized this was really bad. Kate was on a ventilator until she could breathe on her own, and Kayla felt they should keep visitors to a minimum.
Nevertheless, Jake wanted to see Kate and eventually got a moment alone with her. Jake seemed choked up as he reflected on some happy memories with Kate.
After Rafe found out about Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) dumping Jake while posing as Kate, he learned Jake and Gabi got together – and that Jake was sticking with Gabi despite the Kate mask deception. Even so, Gabi feared that Kate’s medical situation might change Jake’s mind about being with her.
Over with Xander on Monday’s Days episode, he was confused when “Kate” showed up on his doorstep. “Kate” explained that she was wearing a mask and later shed it. Kristen filled Xander in on the many jams she was stuck in and wanted him to kill Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney), Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) and Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin).
Xander wondered why he should help Kristen, but she pointed out that he was flat broke and she was filthy rich. Kristen thought this would be a win-win since Xander could revert to bad boy status and make a ton of money in the process. She wanted Xander to name his price and insisted her hostages had to die.
While Kristen was pushing Xander to get on board, Nicole showed up and knocked. She announced herself on the other side of the door and told Xander to open up – leaving Kristen looking nervous about the intrusion.
