Days of Our Lives spoilers recap for Monday, November 29, reveals that possessed Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) transformed into abusive John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and duped Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) as well as Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal). Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) also put out an APB, so let’s discuss how all the DOOL drama went down.
At Ben and Ciara’s apartment, Marlena knew the confession she was about to make would be hard to believe. She claimed she needed help because John abused her, so Ben was immediately concerned for Dr. Evans. Ciara, on the other hand, just didn’t think that sounded like John.
However, Marlena showed off a bruise on her wrist and explained that John had been having fits of rage ever since his brain aneurysm. While Marlena was in the bathroom, Ciara couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to this story.
Marlena’s abuse claims just weren’t adding up, but John suddenly started banging on the door and yelling about how he knew “Doc” was in there. Ben opened the door just a crack with the chain still on as John lashed out.
John swore he was going to kill Marlena and that she’d get everything she had coming to her, so Ciara was finally convinced of Marlena’s lie. After Ben told John to go home, Days revealed that “John” was actually an illusion the devil came up with. “John” morphed back into a smiling possessed Marlena, who then came out of the bathroom.
Marlena warned Ben not to call the cops since John had friends in the department who might help him wiggle out of this. She also had excuses for why she couldn’t go to her family and felt leaving town was the only solution. Marlena claimed she was scared to go alone, so Ben convinced Ciara that they had to help hide her elsewhere.
At the Horton house on Monday’s Days episode, Shawn spoke with Belle Brady (Martha Madison) over the phone and let her know John was there with him. When Shawn turned around, he saw no sign of John and feared Belle’s dad had given him the slip. However, it turned out that John had actually collapsed on the floor nearby.
Shawn made sure John was hospitalized, though John remained eager to recover as soon as possible and get back to his search for Marlena. Once Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) arrived and joined Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) in John’s room, John expressed his deep gratitude for both of them.
Afterward, Shawn put out an APB on “extremely dangerous” Marlena as Ben and Ciara packed up a few of their things. They headed out the door with a satisfied Marlena and remained oblivious to all the devil mayhem.
Meanwhile, Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) found Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) at the local bar, where he confirmed that he brought a scotch and never took a sip of it. Brady regretted it the minute he ordered it, but he still struggled to send it back.
Maggie talked Brady off the alcoholic ledge and knew he must be having a tough time with all his Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) issues. Brady acknowledged those, but he also knew this was about Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) and letting his opportunity to be with her pass him by.
Brady said it “hurts like hell” that they could’ve had a real chance without Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) in the picture. At the Kiriakis mansion, Chloe pushed Philip to go see their tree. Philip flashed back to pulling it out of the ground in a furious meltdown and managed to delay the tree trip.
Chloe also admitted she knew Philip saw her enter the Salem Inn with Brady. Philip claimed he never said anything because he assumed nothing happened. Chloe confirmed that nothing did and felt like Philip not saying anything was a sign that he trusted her.
Philip argued that he finally knew how important trust was and that once it was broken, it was all over. He was clearly still thinking about his mistaken assumption that Chloe and Brady slept together on the conference table of Basic Black.
Chloe opted to head back to the Salem Inn instead of sticking around to watch Christmas movies with Philip, so he fumed after she left. “All that talk about trust right before she goes to meet her boyfriend, Philip snarled. “There’s not a chance in hell her and Brady are going to make a fool of me.”
Back at the bar on Monday’s DOOL episode, Brady told Maggie about Marlena’s bizarre advice to ravish Chloe and assured her that he didn’t take it. Soon after, Brady got a call from Belle and revealed to Maggie that Marlena had been possessed by the devil once again! It suddenly made sense to Brady why Marlena hadn’t been herself.
