Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, September 20, reveals that Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) collapsed after the devil’s punishment – and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) faced a horrible ultimatum. Here’s how things played out on Monday’s Days episode.
In the town square, Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) was surprised when Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) was willing to move on from their recent fight.
Allie figured it was because Johnny wanted her to star in his big movie, but Johnny admitted Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) might not get star-billing anymore.
Johnny insisted Allie wouldn’t believe what he just read about Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) in Will Horton’s (Chandler Massey) script.
As Johnny showed Allie the pages, he marveled at everything Marlena had done when she was possessed by the devil – including setting St. Luke’s on fire and walking into a party butt-naked.
Allie struggled to believe any of this was true, so Johnny got Will on a video call to corroborate the info.
Will said he got the story straight from Sami, though he admitted she’d had a couple glasses of wine by the time she told him. When Will tried to ask Marlena later, she just laughed it off.
Allie thought maybe Sami made the story up to make her life more interesting, but Will suggested they’d have to talk to Sami if they wanted real answers.
Once Johnny disconnected, he gave Sami a call and got sent straight to voicemail. He left a message to say they were missing their mom and hoping to ask questions about some family stuff.
Allie admitted all this creeped her out and didn’t really want to be involved since there was a possibility it actually happened.
However, Johnny talked Allie into heading over to the townhouse to see what she could find out. After Allie left, Johnny got a call and answered it. “Mom! Finally,” Johnny said.
Next on Monday’s Days episode, Abe Carver (James Reynolds) showed up to see John with a dinner invitation and the news that he was back together with Paulina Price (Jackée Harry).
Abe could tell John seemed off, so John confessed that he’d just remembered a dark time that he wished would stay buried forever.
John and Abe discussed some difficult possession memories and how Johnny’s script might open Pandora’s box. Even after all these years, what happened still shook John to his core.
Abe pointed out that the important thing was that Marlena survived and the devil was banished. He felt that faith and strength were what saved Marlena in the end.
John was grateful to Abe since there weren’t too many people he felt comfortable opening up to about this. Before Abe headed out, he assured John that what Marlena went through was over.
Abe noted that if the devil wanted Marlena, he’d had over 25 years to get her back and hadn’t even tried.
In Marlena’s office, possessed Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) insisted Marlena should stop pretending she doesn’t remember him. As proof, devil Doug made the lights go out and allowed his eyes to glow yellow.
“Now do you recognize me?” possessed Doug asked. Marlena said this couldn’t be happening and wondered why the devil was doing this to Doug, who was an angel.
Devil Doug insisted they were two of a kind because he was also an angel before he fell from grace.
Marlena wanted to know why the devil had come back after all these years, so he said that he’d come back for Marlena.
After Marlena declared that she wouldn’t let the devil do this to Doug, he said it didn’t have to be that way.
All Marlena had to do was invite the devil in again. When Marlena refused, the devil began zapping Doug with bursts of pain – leaving Marlena in distress as well.
In the waiting area on Monday’s DOOL episode, Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) got updates on Doug’s recent issues and comforted Julie. Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) noticed the lights go out briefly and wondered what that was about.
While Kayla was checking on the generators, Eli got a call about a robbery a couple blocks away. Julie urged Eli to go ahead and take care of it. She suggested she’d be fine there with her rosary and said some prayers before deciding to check on Doug herself.
When Julie entered Marlena’s office, she cried out since Doug had collapsed on the floor. “Marlena, what happened?!” Julie asked as she crouched down by Doug. Marlena just stood there looking stunned and bewildered.
Later, Allie showed up at the townhouse to ask John about the possession story. After some small talk about the bakery, Allie mentioned Johnny’s movie and all the crazy stuff about Marlena being possessed.
Allie acted like it couldn’t possibly be true, but John stood there looking pensive in response.
At the pub, Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) pointed out that Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) had chosen some bad men over the years.
Roman thought Kate should give him – a decent guy who genuinely cares for her – another shot. He was even willing to “romance the hell” out of Kate, so she admitted she was tempted.
However, Kate argued that love was risky, even with a great guy like Roman. Since Kate didn’t want to risk it, she ended the conversation and headed off to give EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel) some figures.
Once Roman was alone, he insisted he wasn’t giving up on Kate and knew there was a spark between them. Roman felt like Kate just needed some time to figure that out for herself.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say several Salem romances are about to heat up, so stay tuned to DOOL.
