Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Robert Scott Wilson (Ben Weston) recently defended the Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal) wedding kidnapping story that’s coming up. It’s a nod to DOOL history according to Wilson, not a Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) rip-off.
Ever since the news broke that Ben would abduct Ciara from her looming nuptials, fans have naturally been comparing it to when Bo swooped in on his motorcycle and stole Hope away from her own 1984 wedding.
Bo objected to Hope marrying Larry Welch, so he took matters into his own hands in what would become an iconic soap moment.
Of course, the fact that Days is repeating history has left viewers divided. Some fans love the idea of reusing the show’s history and putting a new spin on it.
Others feel like Ben and Ciara’s storylines in particular borrow too much from other past couples.
There are some viewers who feel like the writers should be more inventive instead of always rewriting new versions of days gone by.
However, repeating some common themes should be expected when it comes to daytime dramas, which have often relied on the same soap tropes over the years.
It’s easy to understand all sides here – both the outraged “Bope” fans wishing it was left alone and the “Cin” fans who are just excited to see what’s in store.
In a new issue of SOD, Wilson seemed to anticipate potential attacks and accusations about the stolen storyline.
RSW had plenty of reassurance about how they wouldn’t be stepping on any toes.
“Bo and Hope were their own thing and their own lane and they’re the biggest ever, so we’re not trying to fill their shoes,” Wilson promised.
“I just like how they pay homage to the history of the show. That they did a nod to it is pretty cool.”
Days spoilers say Ben will get some help ahead of this wedding abduction as Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) team up with him.
They’ll come together to stop Ciara from marrying Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson), so plenty of excitement’s brewing in Salem.
