Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Thursday, April 1 Recap – Claire Poisons Chloe – Philip & Belle Married – Baby Stefano Goes Missing

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, April 1, reveals that a special April Fools’ Day episode kicked off with Jan Spears (Heather Lindell) waking up in the hospital.

There was an hourglass by Jan’s bed and Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) was sitting there waiting to explain. Jan reeled over the news that she’d been in a coma for a year, though Shawn guessed it felt more like a cat nap since Jan’s last coma lasted 15 years.

Jan wondered if Shawn had been turning that hourglass over every day – just hoping she’d wake up and come back to him. Shawn claimed it was to remind him to pay the parking meter and wanted to take Jan’s statement about John Black’s (Drake Hogetyn) attack.

Jan ranted about John’s actions and wanted to press charges, but Shawn argued that John’s fate had already been decided.

At Statesville, Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) was ready to carry out John’s execution. John tried to get through to Sami, but she held a grudge over the nasty things John said when he had his aneurysm.

Sami argued that excuse didn’t work at the trial and wasn’t going to work on her now.

Sami also ranted about John doing “the horizontal mambo” on the conference table with Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) all those years ago and breaking up her family with Roman Brady (Josh Taylor).

It turns out John strangled Marlena like Jan – and the moment Sami found out John was up for execution, she applied for the job and wanted to be the one to put John down.

At the townhouse, Belle Brady (Martha Madison) came home after a brief trip to see the governor. She was fighting to stop John’s execution. As soon as Belle walked in, Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) came out to kiss his wife and welcome her home.

Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) came in next and teased them about acting like a couple of horny teenagers.

Once Belle left, Claire asked Philip for help dealing with Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin). Since they found out Philip was Claire’s true father, Philip argued it’d be nepotism if he intervened. He felt it’d be better for Claire to work it out with Chloe on her own.

However, Claire whined about how she agreed to be Chloe’s assistant so she could be a featured vocalist on her next album. Now Chloe the pop star was going back on her word.

Meanwhile, Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) was dressed as a priest when he found Chloe looking like “Ghoul Girl.” Chloe explained that it was her pop persona and that she’d just wrapped up a successful tour.

Bonnie Lockhart (Judi Evans) came along looking like a nun and whisked Xander away, but she said she’d pray for Chloe because it looked like she needed divine intervention.

In a suite, Bonnie ripped Xander’s clothes off and it became clear their outfits were about roleplay. Xander was eager to try something else and include more variety in their bedroom time.

Bonnie pointed out that she wears the pants in this romance, so if “Xan Xan” didn’t like it then he could go back to spending his days and nights alone.

Nevertheless, Bonnie thought Xander had a point. Later, they had swapped outfits – making Xander the nun and Bonnie the priest. Back with Shawn, he complained to Jan about how Belle found out Claire was Philip’s daughter and used that as an excuse to reunite with him.

Jan noted that she’d tried to warn Shawn that Belle didn’t really love him – not like Jan did.

After Claire showed up, she called Shawn her dad and then corrected herself. Claire said it’d take some getting used to. Jan was surprised that Claire wasn’t mad about what happened with John, but Claire assured her they were still friends – and she could really use one right now.

Claire was hoping to get some info about an old enemy of Jan’s: Chloe Lane.

In a moment alone with Jan, Claire explained that Chloe was treating her like a personal slave. Chloe had agreed to give Claire her big break, but now it was all about Chloe.

Jan suggested that Claire should toss a radio in Chloe’s bathtub, but Claire wondered where she was supposed to get a radio. Jan said Claire could use a hair dryer then – or just set Chloe on fire since Claire was good at that.

In the end, Chloe felt the best thing Claire could do is pull an “All About Eve” move and make it so she took Chloe’s place as the new “Ghoul Girl.”

At the townhouse, Chloe was eager to enjoy some forbidden passion with Philip. He reminded Chloe he was married, but ultimately decided he was on board.

Chloe and Philip were interrupted by Claire’s return, so she asked why they were so out of breath. Philip suggested that he was just helping Chloe with her breathing exercises.

Claire brought Chloe the herbal tea she had demanded – and Chloe promptly croaked since it was poisoned.

After Chloe collapsed on Thursday’s Days of Our Lives episode, Philip checked her pulse and realized Chloe was dead. Philip said goodbye to “Ghoul Girl,” but Claire insisted “Ghoul Girl” wasn’t gone – just new and improved.

Claire was sporting her own “Ghoul Girl” look as Daddy Philip promised to make “Claire Bear” a star.

Shawn eventually returned to Jan wearing a baseball uniform and pulled out some handcuffs. He admitted he had feelings for Jan and thought it was time for them to try to make something work.

Once Shawn was shirtless and handcuffed to the bed, Jan got on top and told Shawn to “batter up, baby” before kissing him.

Back at Statesville, Belle admitted she struck out with the governor. Sami planned to move forward with the execution, but Marlena burst in and revealed she was alive.

It was Hattie Adams (Deidre Hall) that John killed instead – and Marlena had clawed her way out of a well to be with John again. Sami pointed out that a woman was still dead, but John shrugged that it was just Hattie Adams.

While John and Marlena sealed their reunion with a kiss, Belle gloated to Sami about how her parents would always find their way back to each other. She suggested there was nothing Sami could do about it, but Sami fired back that she could do “this” and jabbed Belle with the lethal syringe.

Sami declared that it felt good and left dead Belle on the floor as she sauntered out.

At the pub, Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) scarfed down her meal since she was eating for two. Kayla revealed her baby bump and talked about her decision not to terminate her Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) clone pregnancy.

Kayla was hoping things would be different this time since she’d be raising the baby with Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols).

After Kayla’s water broke on Thursday’s DOOL episode, she insisted there was no time to get to the hospital. Steve delivered the baby on the spot and placed “Little Stefano” in Kayla’s arms. Since Kayla was adamant about not breastfeeding, Steve went to get a bottle and formula from the store.

When Steve returned, Kayla told him that “Little Stefano” had toddled off like a “slimy sea monkey.” Kayla guessed Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay) had made it so Stefano would rapidly age, so she warned Steve that they had to find Stefano before he reached his prime.

After a brief search, Kayla told Stephen he was supposed to wink at the camera – with his other eye. Stephen helped Mary Beth tell Days fans April Fools as they broke the fourth wall.

It cut to the hospital, where Shawn and Belle discussed how it was true: Jan was waking up from her coma. In Jan’s room, her eyes were wide open.
